the reason we won that game was superior clock control in the second half. Getting critical first downs and running down the clock was the difference. Thats what having a running game does for you. At that point we let you dink and doink and prevented the big play.

very valid point

Hmmm a thread asking for introspection and honesty completely devoid of homerism? Ok, here goes. This pains me...

Cold and rainy, the Cardinals go home with their tails between their legs, as the national media squawks about what a shame it is the Falcons or some team with a better regular season record didn't get to continue further into the playoffs. Weather should never be an excuse for an NFL team, but the sad truth is taking the Redbirds out of the desert is like watching fish flopping around on dry land. You take us out of our environment and we just look silly and out of place. I won't even make a score prediction here...can't bring myself to.

If the weather is dry and merely chilly, Carolina should still win, but I'd give us about a 35% chance. Our offense is ranked higher than Carolina's, our defenses are ranked equally mediocre. We actually have a pretty highly ranked run D...we allow 110 rushing yards/game to Carolina's 120. We're pretty equal in allowing receiving yards, which is pretty amazing considering Carolina controls the clock with running whereas we have shoot-outs. If Arizona can make the most of their offensive positions and continue putting up points, all the ball control in the world won't stop them. If they don't and Carolina manages to run well, it's Carolina's game.

In good weather, it will come down to defense and turnovers. Carolina should win, but "any given Saturday" a few things roll one way or the other, and anything can happen. That being said...Carolina 28-Arizona 24, with Carolina taking a knee on the last snap. Now I'm gonna go throw up a little...

O.K., I'm back. Here's to an exciting and injury-free game, may we meet in many playoff games to come. I truly believe that the sad sad history of the Cardinals took a turn as old man Bidwell began handing over the reins to Jr. Bidwell and we got our stadium, and the progress since then has continued in the right direction and is still continuing. This is a great board, probably the best and most informed I've run across. Some big time homers but a lot of guys with impressive football knowledge. Plus, our teams seem to share a disdain for the national sports media, the Falcons, and the Cowgirls.

May the best team (this Saturday) win!

One more thing...we beat Atlanta with crowd noise and because our coaches found Matt Ryan's "tell" on his snap count. Because of this our guys were in their backfield and on Ryan and Turner like flies on poop. One of our D-linemen let it slip what his tell is, but it hasn't gotten out I don't think. What would you Carolina fans be willing to offer to know what it is? You could dominate Matty Ice for years to come!!! :-)

We need to get to Warner early in the game and get a turnover... He's a great qb but over the years I seen him fumble and have many int. in a game when he's under presure......If we can do that and have our normal game with a clock control we'll win.....Lets don't get in a shootout! Fans will be huge 12th man and if Boldin can't go it would be sweet!

Fewest turnovers win this game. Plain and simple. The two teams are too evenly matched. If warner holds on to the ball and doesn't throw any picks we win. Doesn't matter how many yards the two headed monster puts up.

Do I think this will happen? 40/60.

Hmmm...Warner threw for 381 yds...only 1 pick...and you lost this year. And, that was without 2 of our starting OL and before Williams started on his current tear.

Unless your defense plays out of its mind, you will be in for a long and painful day against Williams and Stewart.

Forecast is cold, ran, and wind for Sat night....Warner will not have a big game.

Thus, Panthers win going away.

Well everyone knows what Jakes tale looks like... but I don't see how knowing this could be an advantage.

Carolina faced some of the top offenses in the game.

New Orleans twice

Denver

Arizona

Altanta twice

Green Bay

Giants

that's 8 of the top 10 offenses.

they also faced San Diego at 11

Tampa twice at 14

so that's 10 games against to top 14 offenses in the league.

that's why the Cardinals and Panther's defenses allowed about the same amount of yardage.

The Cardinals had the pleasure of facing

Rams 2x (27)

Seahawks 2x (29)

Washington (19)

SF 2x (23)

Bills (25)

Vikings (17)

Jets (16)

that's 10 games against the bottom half of the league.

that's why.

I don't see a blocked punt or fumble on the 5 helping the cards out again. they'll have to earn any points they get, and I think that they will be less than stellar. My only prediction is the Panthers get a very convincing win that scares the chit out of the rest of who's left in the playoffs.

    • Today, we are all Kucci... I miss our feral Russian attack goalie!
    • That was a good segment. Watched every minute of it and would highly recommend it to all fans.
    • "So much of what the Panthers are going to do next week isn't dictated by their preference, but by what happens above them. That's another benefit of not getting locked into need. For instance, if you're thinking you want a receiver, seeing five or six of them go off the board and reacting by taking the sixth or seventh off your list instead of the first (or second or third) something else isn't necessarily wise." https://www.panthers.com/news/ask-the-old-guy-back-into-the-weeds-of-the-nfl-draft-bryce-young-charlotte-hornets-mock-draft This is what some don't seem to get, I don't care how many times it is said: You're NOT going to draft an inferior person at one position, just because that position is perceived as, or is in fact, a bigger need. That would basically nullify, or at least lessen, the reason why you set yourself up via free agency to be able to take the BPA/BAP on the board in the first place.  Yes, the process is complex, very much involved and ongoing, but the overall philosophy is not rocket science. You set yourself up in order not to be pigeonholed into taking a lower graded player at the expense of a higher graded one. This is why Morgan, Gantt and countless of others say the same thing. This is why it's just nonsensical to set yourself in a position where you don't have to, but then act like you have to come hell or high water: "Oh, we have to draft [whatever position], and we can't draft [this position]."  I'm good with whatever they do, until proven otherwise, but even then, you have to be mature enough to know that drafting is an imperfect exercise, filled with hits and misses. And, you generally don't know if you've hit, and especially missed, right away. Moreover, like I've said before, sometimes two players--different positions or not--can both be hits on their respective teams, so in that sense, it's not purely about a right or wrong pick as much as it's about putting puzzle pieces together at the time the best way that you know how.  At the end of the day, people are going to believe what they want to believe, but one thing that's true is that what the Panthers do regarding the draft is dependent upon what others do, and what others do can and does change things. That being the case, it's just another reason why you can't go in with tunnel vision. The thought of doing that is preposterous.
