Recap of the comments please? I'm at work.

Rod Hood's quote on Steve Smith...."You look at and say look, he's a guy who makes plays, but yeah you can definitely stop him. I feel like anyone I go up against I can stop. As a defense we feel we can stop him...If you don't feel like you can stop him, then I don't know why you playing this game. So we definitely feel like we can stop em' and be successful defensively"

They consider holding Smith to five catches for 117 yards and two TDs is successful? I hope they have that kind of "success" again Saturday!

I was On PSD last night, the Cardinals board, One poster said that magical word "IF" here is his quote:

If you take out the 65 yard TD he had 4 receptions for 52 yards and 1 TD... So if Rolle takes away the big play, assuming the FS had deep help, then DRC did shut down Smith.

They are also proud of their 24 points in the last game. :hurray:

haha... i like the "if" game. basically what the conversation boils down to is: "if we can play well and beat them, then we will win." NO sh*t SHERLOCK! the issue is, whether the condition you're suggesting can be accomplished... the truth is nothing can be predicted.

any given sunday (saturday) fellas (and girls).

GO PANTHERS!

lol

what do expect the guy to say?

"Yes, I am Rod Hood playing in the playoffs, but I am going to mail it in cause Steve Smith will most likely play very well and beat me this Saturday...who's got my headdy tee-time?"

::rolls eyes::

Hood was talking with Kirwan on Sirius-NFL the other day and gave Smith a ton of props/credit and said Smitty made him a better player, etc.

Like the man said, if you really do not believe you can stop the man standing across from you, you have absolutely no business being on that field. All of these players are confident that they can beat the man across from them and that's why they are in the NFL.

And don't worry about Smitty. You all know that he does not require any bulletin board stuff to get fired up for a game.

Any team can stop Steve if they commit enough resources to it. The Seahawks proved that in the NFC Championship game a few years back. The problem is how do you stop everyone else if you do.

So the man goes into the game with confidence in himself and his team....whoa big deal. Nothing personal was said to Smith here.

If there's one thing I've learned about Smitty over the years, it's that comments like that are the equivalent of talking about his mamma! Smitty takes EVERYTHING personal. Just saying that they can shut him down is smack enough to give him the chip he needs.

    • Maybe a bit of a homer take but I can't give us a grade lower than A.   Freeling was arguably the best LT prospect in the draft.  His athletic ability is off the chart and at 6'7" that can move.  It was a no brainer pick.   Hunter's key word is Violence. Putting him next to Brown should scare an offensive coordinator. These two give Scourton and Phillips plenty of chances to get one on one opportunities. Brazzell, another tall receiver with sprinter speed.  Our WR room is filled with tall talented WR.  Brazzell is going to give us a WR that can take to roof off the defense.  Basically Jimmy Horn with size. W. Lee III has a nickname of the Blanket. (heard this on the Beleav podcast with J. Stewart)  What a great name.  A great value in the 5th round. Hecht A strong, fast and extremely smart center. Many had him listed as the best center in the draft.  He's most likely a starter sooner than later. Wheatley A good safety in round 5.  Someone who could see playing time.   Kuwatch  I love this pick.  At minimum he will be a key piece on special teams and with some good coaching he'll see some packages where he'll play.  His down piece is he doesn't stay up in the running game.  Good coaching will fix this.  He reminds me a bit of A.J. Klein.   All these picks were great value.  I believe everyone of them were graded higher than the pick we took them.   Dan Morgan is IMO doing a great job turning this team into a good team with great depth.
    • Moton is a class act.
    • Sure, that is possible. That’s what, an extra 55 yards a game on average and 7 more TDs? What if he’s just 15th?  I imagine they would extend him in that situation due to the belief that he’ll keep trending up. maybe a 3 year contract to prove he can be top 10? Sounds like a Tepper plan.
