The writer makes an interesting point about his height/weight, which does indeed need to be scrutinized more. He's also correct about his country of origin being incredibly dodgy. It happens all the time: Martins (Nigerian), the ex-Newcastle player who was meant to be 21 when signed, but looked about 28. El Hadji Diouf (Senegalese/Blackburn Rovers) is meant to be 29 yet he's lost ALL of his pace as if he's much older than stated.

That said, sports are littered with players that peaked at an early age and didn't push on. Some players just don't develop.

Case in point; my friend was an academy player at Burnley FC - he was better than several Burnley academy graduates at 15. They pushed on, he didn't and now they're playing (or were) in the Premier League whereas he's a semi-pro.

Perhaps Adu hasn't applied himself, or perhaps his natural athletic advantage has been nullified now he's playing against men and he doesn't have the ability to make up the difference.

the unfortunate part...I see you guys getting 2nd in your group and having to play the Germans in the first round of elimination...not much fun there!

but...anything can happen in the World Cup...thats for damn sure...and it can't get here soon enough for me!

Adu is a handy player when used correctly, but he was never going to be what he was made out to be. Basically Bobby Convey mk II. I don't think he's 30 though, these rumors always fly around with Africans. If you go on looks, Kanu is about 50.

Shocked me to see both Findley and Johnson there, I know we aren't terrible deep at forward and without Davies, there's a fair chance we'll see Landon up top, but Johnson has more or less fallen off the map and Findley hasn't produced for the US when he's been given a chance. Glad Herculez was called in, and I hope his shirt says Herculez instead of Gomez, that'd be cool.

Would any of you have brought Onyewu? I'd probably have as cover, but he's never been terribly quick and that type of knee injury never helps.

Bornstein has no business being there. He sucks. Where's Edgar?

If Bob plays Beasley as a defender again I will personally choke him. Mark that down.

    • The panthers are such a trash organization at this point that all the huddle can do is argue about which panthers team is historically the worst…good times.
    • Well, hope they're not worried about a torn Labrum or Rotator Cuff, as someone who went through that myself, I know those don't have anything show up on X-Rays but from the MRI, so this is kinda a nothing update, hope it's not a tear or his season is already over if they decide to do surgery now. Which is basically what would be needed to get him to 100% for the start of next season's training camp if it's a labrum.  If he plays the season with it and then does surgery, he's not going to be ready for camp and probably not the start of the season either.
    • I always try to not pay much attention to a team’s preseason win/loss record. The 1982 Washington and 2021 LA Rams both lost every game in the preseason and went on to win the Super Bowl, whereas the 2008 Detroit Lions and 2017 Cleveland Browns both won every game in reason and went on to lose every regular season game. There’s many examples of teams that lose in preseason that go on to have good seasons, but equally there are teams that lose in preseason and that continues in the regular season. Which will we be?  I think our floor is a handful of wins, while our ceiling will probably be around the 9-10 win mark. The latter will require significant improvement from the whole team and coaching staff, and will also need Bryce to play like the QB we drafted him to be. I want to be optimistic and predict a winning season, but it’s really difficult as a Panthers fan!
