Panthers #7 in power rankings...

Just saw it on mike and mike...and to clarify this is Peter King's power rankings and he has the Panthers at #7. The guys are off today so it's Eric kasilisas, or however you spell that guy's name, and buster onely. Neither really said anything negative...just suprised. Buster mentioned that the qb position was what held us back last year so he was fine with it. Pretty interesting...I'll try to find a link to King's rankings to see exactly what he said about Carolina.

I think #7 is a bit high given the veterans that were released and the questions on the DLine.

I think the offense should be much better. I do think this team has the talent and ability to be one of the top teams in the NFC. However, with the question marks and young players, I would not rank us this high to start the season.

My bad guys he had them at number 8. Here's what king said:

8. Carolina. Dangerous team. Very deceiving 8-8 record last year. While everyone tiptoed around it because everyone in the Carolinas loves Jake Delhomme, something awful happened to him in the last year and a half, and he just couldn't play quarterback for this team anymore. Check out what Matt Moore did in his last three starts: three wins, 66-percent accuracy, seven touchdowns, zero picks, and the Panthers outscored three foes 90-26. (Asterisk on the third, New Orleans, because the Saints played the JV that day.) This will be John Fox's last year with the Panthers -- the owner, Jerry Richardson, doesn't want to be in the business of laying off employees and paying a former coach $6 million a year in this economy -- and I think he'll say full speed ahead, damn the torpedoes, forget next year, I'm doing everything I can to win right now. And he'll win enough to make the Wild Card.

He lost all credibility when he had Miami at #6. They are improving, but are nowhere near a Top5 team in the NFL.

He did preface the entire article with how terrible he is at ranking...

So before I go out this morning, let me embarrass myself by ranking the NFL one through 32. That's not being overly modest -- just realistic. I stink at this. In fact, my recommendation if you really want to find out what's going to happen in the NFL this year is to take a bye on this column. Last year, I really distinguished myself. Picked the Bears to make the Super Bowl. Picked the Saints 24th in the league, which was a point of some contention all season, right up to the moment 30 minutes after the Saints won the Super Bowl and Sean Payton walked up to his podium to meet the press after the game, saw me, and said: "Not bad for number 24.''

With so many new and young faces in our starting line-up, the Panthers are a team that I cannot handicap or rank right now. We have the talent to be a very good team. However, we did lose leadership and consistency. This team will have to be truly evaluated after a few games on the field. Anything before that is absolutely nothing but a guess.....like any power ranking is anything but a guess.

I do understand the point he was trying to make about the Panthers. This team went 8-8 with the worst (not even close) QB play in the league. Deelhomme gave away multiple games last season. He liked what he saw in Moore, and if he can sustain that play (given our OL, RB, and WR).....the Panthers ARE a very dangerous team.

    • The OP for one. Asserting that people blamed Bryce for the loss in the title of the thread. That was not the prevailing sentiment at the time this thread was created. Very much a minority thing, I don’t remember but maybe one person if that, putting it on Bryce as the main reason. Troll thread. Did a good job too. Look at the pages.  Someone counting up the draft picks as 10 on offense and 10 on defense or whatever the number was, today or yesterday - of which the offensive ones were heavily 1s and 2s and the defensive picks were heavily day 3 and declaring that proof that the offense wasn’t favored like people claim. The obvious neglect we watched for two years. I spent time refuting that bullshit because someone needed to.  People saying we are bad horrible people and hate poor lil Bryce for no reason, as if it is a personal thing. Constantly.   Along the same lines is people saying we non Bryce fans would rather lose than have him play well and the team wins. That we are mad when the team wins   Point illustrated.
    • Might not have been in this specific thread... As far as the other, I'm not necessarily reading every post that isn't responding to me so I don't think I saw that. Mind you, we've certainly seen the "not a real fan" stuff on here before.
