NFL preview mags are out....

Recommended Posts

I ordered the Beason cover Lindy's online and was a little disappointed at the content. Some of it was interesting, but there were numerous mistakes in the magazine. A few spelling type errors and at least 1 factual error I noticed in just glancing through once. They said the Panthers went 13-3 in '05, as we all know they went 11-5 that year.

Those magazines are bandwagon trash rags. Most of the time they focus on Dallas, New England, Indy and any other Glamour team. Carolina and the other low life teams get uninformed, half researched and generic comments. Most of the don't have a clue WTH they are talking about.

Some of them rely on a team's local beat reporter to work up that team's section, but that certainly doesn't make it a fact that they know what they are talking about.

Alright I've looked through most of them. The only one I wouldn't suggest buying would be the USA today one. It's really bad.

Pro Football Weekly and Sporting News is a good pair to have. Pro Football Weekly has all the game stats and position rankings. Sporting News has the local beat writers do the team previews so you won't find any ignorant opinions.

Lindy's has some interesting rankings

Smitty is the 12 ranked WR

Carolina has best running game in the NFl

Deangelo is the best "ground based" running back. Which pretty much means the's the best at running the ball, but he's not balanced. Stewart is 7th ranked in the "ground based" category.

Stewart is also ranked as the 3rd best 2nd string back in the league.

Suprisingly, Sutton is ranked as the 3rd best 3rd string back in the league.

Stewart and Williams get best RB tandem in the NFC. We are very close to beating out the Cowboys for best trio by their standard.

Gross is the 5th ranked left tackle while Otah is the 2nd ranked right tackle. They also get the award for the best tandem in the NFC.

Kalil is the 5th ranked center.

Carolina has the 3rd ranked Offensive line.

Thomas Davis was the 11th ranked OLB.

Beason is the 9th ranked MLB:eek:

They say we are "next in line" to be among the elite in our secondary and linebackers. That probably changes with Davis's injury though.

One thing I noticed in Pro Football Weekly was that Armanti Edwards was the #1 gamble on their draft recaps. They think he has the highest ceiling out of any of the players chosen when compared to where he was drafted.
