Gettis does have a lot of upside. I'd love to see Dexter jackson make the team. Noone ever mentions him. He's easily the fastest reciever we've got on the team now. He'll probably end up on the practice squad again

It looks like these 5 WR's are almost locks to survive the final roster cuts.

#1 Steve Smith - starter

#2 Dwayne Jarrett - starter (or he's gone)

#3 Armanti Edwards

#4 Brandon LaFell

#5 Wallace Wright (because of his special teams play)

This is how I would rank the WR's just missing out on the top 5 roster spots. I don't think the Panthers can squeeze a 6th WR onto their final roster, unless the Panthers only decide to carry 2 QB's (Moore and Clausen, with Armanti Edwards as the 3rd QB).

#6 David Gettis

#7 Charly Martin (because of his special teams play)

#8 Dexter Jackson

#9 Kenny Moore

#10 Trent Guy

I honestly think we will have 6 wr's on the roster, with more empasis on the passing game, we are gunna keep one more on the roster this year. My money would be on Wallace Wright for sure, and I would love to see Kenny Moore out there, but Gettis could take that spot from him.

      No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad

      I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.

      Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible.
