Anderson playing strong and confident

Entering his fifth NFL season, Anderson has finally settled in to a spot in the linebacking corps. During Carolina's post-draft minicamp and summer school sessions, he has lined up as the starting strongside linebacker. He said the time spent playing all three positions has been good preparation and that this defense fits him well.

"It feels good to know that you go out there with the first group and have a spot. But in our defense, we've got to have versatile backers, so I still play pretty much all three spots," Anderson said.

"This defense suits a backer who can run and hit. I fit that physically. Playing the (strongside) linebacker, that's a guy that has do all of the dirty work. He's got to be able to take on blockers. He's got to cover the tight end. I feel like I'm suited to do all those things. I'm a little bit bigger this year as well as faster, so it plays into what I do well."

yeah people were hoping he'd be an immediate spoon replacement. I didn't read up on him very much I never knew it would take this long.

I think he'll play well.

People seem to think that because he's more athletic than Connor then he must not be as good in run support but I think he'll actually be better in both areas.

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
