so close and can't finish! Robben...what a chance to not lift over the leg of the goalie...and shut your mouth after the other chance too...should have been a foul maybe, but I've never seen a ref change his mind after getting chased around and yelled at!

Speaking of ref...poo...way too many yellow cards and far too lopsided too...the dude that end up scoring the goal, everytime he was close to someone it seemed he was down and the cards were out. Tough game to call, but I think he could have made more calls against Spain and at the same time less against Holland. The delayed call that brought yet another yellow...that was ugly!

Oh well...can't wait for Brazil in 2014...we are actually looking into attending!

Agreed. Except they were mostly in Holland's favor. De Jong should have been straight red carded and Van Bommel could have had 4 or 5 yellows.

can't argue the straight red...there were plenty of opportunties to card more Spaniards as well!

Agreed. Bottom line, Holland didn't deserve to win playing the way it did. De Jonge's only intent on that play with his Mr. Miyagi kick was to put Alonso in cardiac arrest. Van Bommel was out for blood. It was like they had a pre-match bet seeing who could draw more bookings.

Clearly, the Dutch game plan was to beat the hell out of Spain, literally, hope that they could get away with it, and strike (no pun intended) on a counter attack with Robben getting behind the defense and getting a cheap goal. Robben had the chance twice, but Casillas stoned him both times. Spain was clearly the better team, and it won.
