People that use every big word in the book just to "sound" smart.

I was working part time as a receptionist for an employment company. A woman came in mad because she had filled out an application for a job and hadn't been called as part of a job fair the company had. She demanded that she talked with a recruiter immediately and that she wasn't going to leave until she had a job!

I explained to her that the recruiters had a plethora of applications that they were working through and that simply filling out an application didn't guarantee her getting a job.

She said "What was dat word you used?"

I said, "Plethora?"

"Yea, dat word. Does it make you feel important to use big words that no one knows?"

I said, "It means a huge amount."

She looked at me and asked, "What kind of word is dat? You speakin' some foreign language?"

I assured her that is was English. A recruiter came out because they heard her yelling and took her back into an interview room. They did get her a job. Then she lost that job and called to talk to a recruiter. (I was always under orders never to put anyone through to recruiters, unless it was a family member. (Friends and family would call them all the time.))

I told her that the recruiters were busy, and that she should call the employment line to let them know she was available for work.

She then said, "I remember you! You are that ass that speaks to people in foreign launguage!"

And still I didn't hang up on her. LOL
