I liked his line at the end of one of the movies when they had won best, all I remember is he was in the hospital.

He was what they call a character actor, meaning nobody knows much about him but when you see him in any of a hundred films you go "hey, it's that guy".

Lou Brown was a great character in what I consider one of the best baseball movies of all time. Gammon was also great in Silverado (he reminded you of a guy from the old west).
