CP3 wants out, Bobcats not on his " list"

Paul's list of preferred destinations consists of the Knicks, Magic and Lakers, and members of his inner circle already have sent word to the Hornets of his desire to be traded to one of those teams, sources say. If Paul has his way, he's played his last game in a Hornets jersey.

"He feels like they haven't put the right pieces together," said the person familiar with the star point guard's plans.

Maybe Charlotte is in the next tier and I dont know if those other teams can offer NO what the Cats can offer them ( Dampier, Diaw, Dj, future 1st).

Does he have a NTC? The Hornets will trade him to whoever gives them the best package to rebuild with. I'm more than a little biased, but I think the Bobcats can offer a pretty decent package.

I think he could work well with TT and Wallace. That would be fun to watch.

The problem is Wallace would probably be part of the package deal. I just can't see a situation where the Bobcats acquire CP3 without giving up a guy like him or Jackson.

Take back Okafor. Because Dampier can't be traded in a package for another two months or so, agree to two seperate but related deals. One involves Dampier for Chris Paul/Okafor, the other sends pieces and draft picks for the other. If CP3 wants out, then they're going to need to blow that team up and Okafor's contract would stand in the way. Elite PG and a dependable, if overpaid, big man.

The absolute only thing that the Knicks have over us is that they play in a larger market!

I know. I love how people go, "the Knicks?" Like it makes absolutely no sense.

TV markets are a powerful thing. Especially with his Nike contract.

Magic? Wow. Not sure who they'd trade for him but they'd be pretty awesome if they added him.

Maybe we can do a three way trade and get Jameer Nelson who torched our you-know-what! haha

For the CAA, that's more than enough. They will not help steer CP3 here if GW has to go with no other superstars on the team. Building "mega" teams is a major goal of the CAA and putting stars in the smallest markets is not good business sense in their eyes.

What exactly do the Knicks have that NO would want? You could say draft picks but once CP3 is a Knick they aint a lottery team anymore. It's got nothing to do with what CP3 would want, but what realistically might occur.

I don't buy all this big market/small market krap either. The NBA has had no problem with Boston winning Championships, they're half the size of San Antonio, and barely bigger than Cleveland. Charlotte is bigger than Boston BTW according to wiki. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cities_by_population

So Chris Paul is basically about to do what LeBron just did, except he's NOT a free agent and is under contract. And yet no one on this board hates him or is saying he has no heart because he's giving up on the franchise that drafted him. No one's questioning his loyalty. Paul (like his contemporaries Bron & Bosh) realized they have no chance of winning on teams like the Hornets, Raptors, and Cavs and are pushing to go to bigger markets that have more $$$ and more visibility. I dont blame him at all, in fact I would encourage all NBA players to go for self and do whats best for them. Because at the end of the day, the fans and the media dont have loyalty to them.

KT, you gotta admit teams have been making preparations for a possible Lebron defection for a couple years. You'd have to have just rolled out from under a rock not to be aware of the LJ soap opera going for for quite a while.

This CP3 thing just sprang loose. :lurk5:

You are correct. Although all season long there's been speculation CP3 wouldnt be in NO that long. And anyone who grew up following the Hornets and George Shinn, knew that would be the case anyway. Thats one owner that cant keep his star players happy for nothing. Lol. But anyways, I think what we're seeing is a reaction to the past 2 years of people and fans telling these guys that "ONLY CHAMPIONSHIPS MATTER". That "if you dont win a title, then you've accomplished nothing" philosophy is driving guys to click up with each other. These guys have seen what winning can do to your legacy and probably get tired of busting their asses for small market franchises with so so front offices only to come up short time and time again. Meanwhile players in bigger markets with better front offices might not perform as good, but get more love because they win. These guys see that, so what you're gonna see the next few years is superstars giving up on the "1 star and 4 bums" model we've seen the past 15 years and opting to join up with other superstars to create more talented teams. I expect Cp3 to land in NY, with Melo tagging along down the road. That would create a new Knicks-Heat rivalry (like in the late 90s) that could be marketed very well in the league.

    • So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
    • Reasonable. I mean I didn’t see a clear path to relief this season myself. As I have typed already, I think the QB FA class is more interesting next season and that draft is supposed to be stacked as well. There just weren’t many options this year.  When you have Tepper to contend with you have to tread lightly around this unless you are 100% certain and willIng to stake your job on it.   There were a couple of outings that helped Bryce a lot in terms of  thinking maybe he can do this, and if you are a supporter you are giving them a lot of weight. You are likely to think just get him some more help and he can do that every week. Which I think Tepper falls into that category.  And the playoffs, division champs, regardless of the way I see that, the supporters will also give that a lot of weight.    And the big one, the atmosphere In BOA for that WC game, Tepper had to be soiling himself over that. If you pulled Bryce out right now you had better be right and your new guy had better make the playoffs and look good doing it or you will be gone and your chance to build your old team back into respectability will be gone too.  So here we have Pickett on a one year deal, and Grier and King. I understand it.
