Cap Space vs. Jake

Alot of talk lately about the fact that the Panthers can't keep Peppers and Gross under the cap. So my question is, do we release Jake and save the 6.5 million cap to use for Gross and franchise Peppers? That would leave the QB to Moore or McCown or a possible low rent replacement. Or do we lose one of them and stick with Jake.

Even with the fog of last night I do remember last year without Jake and that does scare me a little, but if we could keep both other guys that would be great

Who is going to QB this team if Jake is not here next year? You do not just get rid of your starting QB unless you have somebody, you KNOW is better, to replace him.

If I had to choose between Gross, Peppers and no Jake vs Gross,Jake, no Peppers or Jake, Peppers , no Gross - I think I take Jake and one of the other two.

Jake sucked ass last night, but there is plenty of other blame to go around.

    • Care to elaborate why you disagree? We kicked the ball off 3 times and we kept the Browns to starting field position of the 22, 27, and 10 (would have been 21 before a penalty). All 3 of those are successes with the modern kickoff rule.
    • Its August so obviously quality options are not there. The question is whether any improvement can be made to the bottom of the depth chart.
    • NFL has a huge amount of parity.  The talent level between most NFL starters outside of the top 5 to 10 guys at a position is very comparable.  2020 worst teams Jacksonville Jaguars - 1-15 (worst record in NFL) New York Jets - 2-14 Cincinnati Bengals - 4-11-1 Atlanta Falcons - 4-12 Houston Texans - 4-12 Carolina Panthers - 5-11 Detroit Lions - 5-11 Philadelphia Eagles - 4-11-1 Los Angeles Chargers - 7-9 Denver Broncos - 5-11 2024 Worst teams New York Giants - 3-14 (tied for worst) Cleveland Browns - 3-14 (tied for worst) Tennessee Titans - 3-14 (tied for worst) New England Patriots - 4-13 Carolina Panthers - 5-12 Jacksonville Jaguars - 4-13 Las Vegas Raiders - 4-13 New York Jets - 5-12 Chicago Bears - 5-12 Arizona Cardinals - 8-9 Bengals, Texans, Lions, Eagles, Broncos and the Jags have all made the the playoffs in the last 3 years. What I'm saying is it's stupid to argue when team is the worst when there is so much parity and the system allows quick turnarounds.
