They should get Albert Haynesworth

I don't think they need a fat dumb white guy on there.

He's probably wouldn't do it, but Quincy Jones would make a great addition. If there is one person who knows music past Clive Davis, it's Quincy.

Or Clive Davis, but both guys are near 70 yo. (Not that that's old by today's standards.)

it's mostly because when you're a runner up, a record label will still sign you and you can have your fair share of creative control. if you win, you have to do things their way, they have songs already written for you and you don't have much if any input.

Thats not exactly true. Any of the singers that make it to the show are signed to a contract. So even if you dont win your still under there control. I remember one year they kicked a guy off cause he would not sign there contract without his lawyer.

American Idol has also come under fire for maintaining what some claim to be total control of the careers of the contestants that sign with their management company, 19 Entertainment. Former co-host Brian Dunkleman cited dislike of the way contestants were treated by producers as one of the primary reasons for his departure after the first season.[13] The New York Post referred to the show as "owning" the contestants, noting that signees sign contracts to record only with companies owned by the show's producers and to allow related agencies to manage their careers. However, contestants are advised of the conditions and requirements for taking part in the contest and that signing the contract is optional but a requirement if they want to participate in the competition. Even knowing the restrictions, tens of thousands of contestants sign the contract anyway, as the show provides most of them an opportunity for success and visibility not otherwise available.
