They redid the Fayetteville st mall. Amphitheater down there now. Creamery district is awesome. Warehouse district will come around with aphitheater. Moore Sq area kinda peaked and died down, but still some awesome restaurants there. It's coming around.

and even yankees are saying there are too many damned yankees nowadays...

I live in Garner...but it's an easy commute to downtown. Unfortunately I work in RTP and in the Piedmont area...

Avoid Shaw University area.

LOL This area isn't bad... g5 just has a fear of young black people...It is right downtown, on the South side... Just don't head too far on either side of Wilmington St. on that side of town... I drive that area every day on the way home...

Avoid around Garner High, Gorman Road, and some parts in southeast Raleigh. There are some newer apartment complexes off of Tryon road (runs parallel to I-40 on the southern I440 segment). Being in downtown, you'll be competing with NC State students trying to get good deals in that price range. My answer...avoid.

Yeah, he is talking about the side of Raleigh towards Cary for the most part... (well, the Garner High thing isn't really, but it has a lot of black people too (see comment above lol))... He means Gorman St. btw, and my Grandpa has lived out that way off of Tryon for over 80 years and hasn't had a problem...

Over off of Blue Ridge/Rex Hospital area...close to Olde Raleigh, there are some apartment complexes that are in walking distance to shopping...quick commute downtown...near the RBC center/fairgrounds for events and just outside the immediate NC State area. Typically a lot of yuppies...but still very safe to feel like you can walk around. I have absolutely NO clue on costs.

That would be way out of your price range, and the traffic in that area is a disaster if there is some sort of event, or the fair in October

North Raleigh is pricier. As someone mentioned...avoid Capital Blvd/Mini-city area too.

cosigned again... Mini City is basically Capital Blvd. just south of Wake Forest in case you didn't know

There are some awesome bar districts in downtown Raleigh...I just don't think your price range will get you anything much, but it's worth looking at. Areas around Cameron Village might work...or the creamery district (bars/restaurants). Avoid east of Wilmington St.

LOL at the Wilmington St. comment... I drive through that area every day on my way back to Clayton... I wouldn't live there because I have seen the drug deals go down and all that, but g5 is just afraid of black people ;)

Stop fooling yourself...

They built those new apartments/condos down there by Moore Sq. and only sold ONE... hahaha millions of dollars down the drain because people were smart with their money and moved to Clayton or Garner...

Here's the best piece of advice...wral.com even probably has this.

You can do queries on where crime is committed in Raleigh. See how that marries up to the areas I'm talking about. I used to drive home from the bars down Wilmington St...and dude...you just don't want to be on the road in that area. Hell...the fences around Shaw should tell you something's up. Plus...there's a huge contingent of homeless people in that area. I think there are multiple shelters in the area.

btw...the subdiv I live behind...it has...*shudder* black people in it. :)

I wasn't talking about apartments around Moore Sq. The "it's coming around" part is talking more about the general downtown improvements. Aphitheater...civic center...parking...theater...

Only things Moore Sq has going for it is Exploris (now Marbles) and Cafe Luna....oh...and Tir Na Nog...if it's still there.

Yeah, the homeless are out in full force because of the shelters, and the vast amount of free public buildings with air conditioning and shelter from the daytime elements...

I just like to pretend they are zombies, and either run, or shoot them in the head...

Good practice. They move about the same speed and serpentining.

    • I think where they would be picked if redrafted before both classes have played enough football to really tell.  Baker literally looked like a washout with us after Cleveland gave up on him, then turned world beater with the Rams, got a prove it deal with the Bucs and has looked awesome ever since. Asking where Ward would’ve went had he went in ‘24 is just stupid.  I’m no GM, but I wouldn’t have taken Williams #1 either.  I would’ve taken Joe Milton way higher than he went.  I think Shadeur should’ve been a first round pick this year.  Point being, opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one.  It’s my opinion that Ward has that “something special.”  I get that feeling that he’ll be an even better pro than he was a collegiate QB because of whatever that quality is.  I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of people, especially being such an under appreciated first overall pick.
    • Where do we get our T-shirts and hats? Pretty sure this is the first championship ever in professional basketball or football in Charlotte!
    • Nice turnaround for Kon.  I’m still a little worried about his ability to create for himself and others, but it was SL.  Come regular season, he will playing a much different role and shots will be there for him.  He showed some reason for hope - and not just him, but the whole squad.  I suppose for the first time ever, we have drafted and acquired enough young talent that we actually not only competed for once, but won the whole thing in summer league.     Kon, Simpson, and Sims made all the difference.  Almost every year prior I felt we always struggled because we usually didn’t have a floor general/real PG to get us into offense.  This was such a breath of fresh air.  And look at us!  We finally are champions!😂
