...to know that the offense has got some serious penalty issues. With all the yappin' here about Matt Moore, did any of these "critics" watch how many times he made some awesome passes and had them dropped, called back numerous times for stupid FS or holding penalties? I mean he lost easily a hundred yards of gain from "bring 'em backs." Heaven help #69 if he can go through a game false-start free!

There is no humor in this however, and it clearly got to the media crew as well. The games whole tempo, and Matt's cadence was destroyed by the lack of OL and BF discipline! A word I am oft using, because the count is crucial and nearly half the guys did not show the discipline to remain fixed and ignore the temptations to react...which is part fo the ST's issue as well.

Can someone explain to me WTF is still going on with JG on this issue? I could like the guy a lot more if he was not the predictable FS'er he is.

Exactly. We forget how many times we had a first and ten from Jake, only to have #69 called for a FS last year, the year before, and the year before that, which followed the year before that! Execution is a noun!

Look, it is not just Gross, though I think he's the "captain" of that team division, but it is a lack of concentration and preparation...that is a weakness the coaching staff should have to lay claim to! Is that wrong?

95 yards those penalties cost us gang...would you be pissed if a 91 yard return were called back for say, a gross penalty like false start or holding? I would bet that Matt Moore did not mis-throw that many yards...NOT dropped balls mind you. Yet we are ready to crucify the guy when it seems the issue is total offense and not one player gets to exclude himself, not one offensive coach gets to blame a player for that many..11 screw ups!

remember the first three games of the 2008 season?

good coaching will turn this around. shouldn't be a problem be week one.

I could buy that if it were something Gross hasn't always done, no matter what part of the season it is. Maybe we should start a thread and count up all the gross false starts Gross has all year.

I sure do PhillyB! I also remember so damn many people, who prolly didn't go to a game and have to stash out $4 for a lame 20 oz's of H2O, that "It doan matter squat..it's a damn preseason game...it doesn't count!'

Well poo, I got smart and said who the heel needs to pay for a game that doesn't count...aren't I smart?

Of course that is lame asst as the "IDC" trolls...they lose, I kill squirrels!

      Same. I would prefer a MNF game earlier in the season. As if more likely has some significance in case things go south this season. If we perform well enough we could even get another game forced to a Sunday night spot later in the season.

      Wanted to jump into this thread. Although I do not post anymore I do look in as there are a few old friends around. Loved hearing some of the names you mentioned.  Another  oldie is NanceUSMC.  He is the one who got me here from the old Observer forum.  Good guy and smart football guy. I have learned a lot from a lot of good Huddlers over the years, Over time. we have sadly lost a few who left this earth too soon.  Anyone who know of someone, it would be nice to try to make a list.  One of the more recent, CosmoGirl,  was someone that kind of hit hard.  Life sucks sometimes. Some of the best times were when we had our own tailgate and could meet up in person.  I think it made us better. Several dedicated volunteers, lead by LiverMush, started setting things up in the wee hours of each gameday morning.  Don't know all those regulars but I remember JakeFlake was one.  For you newbies...each game,  a Huddler (or a group) sponsored the food for each tailgate.  Eating was free but a donation was asked for.  At the end of the year those donations were used to buy bicycles for Toys for Tots.  Over the years Huddlers bought a lot of new bikes for kids for Christmas.  (I am guessing a couple of hundred each year.)  We had a good time getting together, got to make friends in person, and then got to feel like you were doing something good. It was truly a community. I got to meet Dan Morgan at one of our tailgates...he brought pizza from his restaurant.  How many of you remember that?  Glad the restaurant did not make it....lol. Not only have people changed, and come and gone.....but the entire nature and purpose has changed. Nothing lasts forever and we move on but we still like to think about good times. Same reason we take pictures. Want to ask a question I have not seen anyone else mention......who remembers    "The Couch" ?  We have argued, laughed, lived the ups and downs of football and dealt with a little real life along the way.  A thanks to  the Mods who keep this going.  I am sure they sacrifice a lot of their time out of love for the forum and the Panthers. Take care my friends and be well.  I will close with my new favorite quote which I think is greatly needed in these difficult times.
