The Perfect (Sh*t) Storm

Taking in all of the current situation we're in - especially offensively, I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter who the QB is right now...

Why?

We're in the perfect sh*t storm. This isn't a trash JR thread per the usual, although he deserves every bit of that - this is specifically about the personnel, or lack thereof and why this offense is doomed...

*We have the least amount of starts among all 3 QBs on the roster out of every team in the NFL.

*With Smitty out, the same can be said for the WR corps as well.

*Basically we have a whole new right side of the OL, with Schwartz and Bernadon't. The OL play is sh*t overall across the board.

*2 of our first 3 picks can't play (whether active or inactive), when we had an immediate need at WR.

*The WRs we have either don't get open consistently or drop the ball too often

*Clausen doesn't let the play develop and checks down

*Moore does, but he gambles and throws into coverage

*No mentor to tell them what they're doing or looking at

*No "feel" on reads between WRs and QBs

*THE BIGGEST PROBLEM - PLAYCALLING, it just complicates all the others. The personnel is limited by the playcalling and the the playcalling may be limited b/c they don't trust the personnel.

Out of all that, although I believe 99% of the vet releases didn't hurt us, letting Moose go did. Clausen may be damaged goods now b/c of Fox's handling of the situation... Idk that he was the answer anyway, but, I definitely have questions now. This is just a disaster.

dunno what's going on with Clausen, but he looked beyond terrible today. Saying he isn't NFL ready after today's start is probably the biggest understatement one can make.

In a way, I think they need to start him after the bye to see how he responds... because if you bench him now, he is pretty much screwed.

    • So... what metrics for production do you believe display these issues/limitations best? Are we only using total passing yards, height, and weight thresholds? If so, then what are those thresholds?
    • I mean as far as his size goes it's all over his tape bouncing up and down on his toes in and around the pocket trying to see the field and defenses know this as well as we do but if folks here want to live in never never land and pretend it's not a thing that's their prerogative. Even our head coach has made it a key focal point to get his footwork under control. But it's still something Bryce is going to be tested on early and often no matter how many keystrokes anyone here commits to the narrative it isn't an issue.
    • It speaks volumes that when asked to define a clear performance threshold the responses instead fixate on Bryce's size. It reinforces what’s been clear for a while now... that for some, it has never been nor will it ever be about production. Any struggles will always be chalked up to his frame, and any strong play will be downplayed or disqualified via highly mobile goalposts.
