CTP's 2011 Mock Draft

Well...Fox and Hurney won't be running the draft so its going to depend on who our coach is. No matter what, if we want to be an improved team we are going to have to make moves in FA AND have a good draft. Our defense is solid (unless the new coach goes for a 34). Our offense needs major work at the WR and QB positions if they aren't impressed with Clausen.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the new coach likes Luck or Locker and wants to start over at that position. Then we could bring in a FA WR (Vincent Jackson anybody??).

Fox and Hurney won't be, but new coach and Hurney will be. I still say Hurney has signed that new contract and is locked for the next few years.

Also nice mock CTP

Selling a jersey to make a couple of bucks isn't a character issue' date=' drinking and driving or doing drugs is....[/quote']

correction I shouldn't have said character issues, my real point was are the Panthers willing to gamble on a wide-out with a top five pick

I would say at the spot the Panthers would be at, the best options would be to either

1. Pick Green or Patterson

2. Trade back and pick up extra picks and a DT.

I think Green would be a nice selection, though I wouldn't complain about the other two options either.

I'm assuming you mean Patrick Peterson, CB from LSU...Peterson is a guy I would love to see in a Carolina uniform if Gettis and/or LaFell progress well through the season....he's an absolute monster....

(If any photoshop experts feel like it I would love to see someone make this a Panthers uni)...

The reason I changed it from Green to Peterson is because Gettis and LaFell have shown alot of promise...especially Gettis. I said before in one post he reminds me of Randy Moss...but that is still a reach. either way we go, wether it is Green or Peterson, I'd be happy as well.

    • I tend to look at all of these guys and wonder how committed they are to doing special teams? It's a big deal when you're fighting for roster spots. And we need massive refreshes to all phases of the special teams game. And the idea that four or five of these players could see rotational use outside of special teams would be a win. This team has accumulated quite a bit of dead wood over the last five years and its time to take an axe to some of it. These new fellows have a shot to benefit from that if they can really push. That being said, wow that receivers room is crowded right now. I'm not sure if I was a vet player with more than 2 years experience other than Adam Thielen if I'd be too sure of my future here. Tet is guaranteed a spot, Coker earned his for sure and they aren't done with XL developing yet. That's only two to three spots left for the entire room. It's going to be very competitive and better for Bryce's future, too. Safety and linebacker are the opportunity spots here this season. There's room for the right guy and we may see a starter eventually from one of these UDFAs, either by merit or injury.
    • Aho and Jarvis just gripping it too tight right now. Relax, play their 200 ft game and the shots will start to find the net. Freddie has been excellent and welcome back Mista Svechnikov. Burns.....well, thank goodness for Slavin.
    • Supposedly he plans on staying in college for all 4 years.
