Taking plays off...who does and who doesn't?

He retired as a panther, peppers will not. I am guessing that you just want peppers to stay around for the great sex he was giving you.

As was mentioned...Buck got cut, then he tried out for some teams (I think Philly was one of them) and didn't make it. Buck retired because nobody wanted him.

Ummmm. I am pretty sure after the game everyone was thanking Peppers for showing some emotion out there and getting the D fired up. After that play Rogers achieved nothing. Some even said that is one of the reasons we held them to a field goal that drive.

It would have been 2nd and goal from the 14 if he didn't make that penalty, instead it gave them 1st and goal.

And yeah that hit is why we won that game im sure Steve Smith made that catch only because Peppers hit Rodgers.

Oh yes, he retired as a panther, after he didn't make the eagles squad when he signed with them in 2006.

LOL.....

This is funny, now the kid is making up stuff. Go back and show me where I said I wanted Peppers to stick around.

Try not to confuse yourself, I know it may be tough, but you can do it.

Are you that f*cking stupid?

If hes bitter that he got cut why would he be supporting the coaches saying that they didn't hold Peppers back.

So hes bitter toward the Panthers but hes taking it out on Peppers a guy who wants to leave the Panthers?

That's cute, this post shows you have never heard him on the radio.....

You really don't know anything about Buckner lol.

You just now found out that he dissed Peppers, and you just ran with it. Good stuff, I see now in the other thread when you just found out.

So yea, your not worth it, you don't have a leg to stand on in this.

How about 2007? I think he took more than a play off. Looks like he took the whole season off. Or did he really have a flu that lasted all season? How many of the others guys you named have had a season like his 07 season? Just facts.......

Jared Allen - 2006 - 7.5 sacks

Mario Williams - 2006 - 4.5 sacks

Dwight Freeney - 2006 - 5.5 sacks

Kampman - 2004 & 2005 - 4.5 & 6.5 sacks

Jason Taylor - 1999 - 3.5 sacks

Aaron Schobel - 2007 - 6.5 sacks

Patrick Kerney - 2003 & 2005 - 6.5 sacks

Simeon Rice - 1997 - 5 sacks

The list goes on and on

All of those are sub par performances from players who completed 16 starts in a season. There are a million reasons why these players under performed from their usual standard.

For Peppers in 2007 is was simple. He lost his love for the scheme. He struggled to motivate himself for it and thus he lost his desire. No one can fault him for that as it would happen to everyone. The thing about that season for Peppers is that he did the other things he is known for, just he didn't turn the pressures into sacks.

For the record I know that sacks is not the be all stat for DEs. This means doubly for Peppers as he does more in other areas than all the other guys, bar leadership. The fact is though - other players have down years, even the hall of famers.

The fact is that almost our entire team appeared to take that year off, bar Smith of course!

Wow, good post. Thats the leadership I want.

So did those other players he listed also have a change of heart in their systems? BTW...what he posted was HIS opinion. He is entitled to it, I don't agree that Peppers gave up.

But let's hear the reasons that the other DE's underperformed during those years listed. Were they being lazy??

And by the way, Peppers has NEVER been a vocal leader on ANY team he's ever played for. He's just not built like that. Not every team can have a Ray Lewis.

Lol

If he weren't coming to work and doing exactly what the coaches want then I would agree with you. But he did. Never complained. Never made a fuss to the media. Never drew the spotlight to the team. Never called out his coaches. He was professional about the whole thing. That is the kind of player I want on my team.

Have you ever had a job that left you depressed everytime you got home? You just completely disagree with every step the management takes? That try as hard as you might, but you take those thoughts with you to home? That it ruins your spare time because you are so worked up about your work?

Trust me it is horrible and a very dangerous rut to be in.

He never asked to be a leader. Everyone knew his personailty did not suit it, yet this team tried to force it on him.

Anyway this thread is not about that. It is about players taking off plays. He took plays off in 2007, but no more than anyone else and looking at other DEs careers shows fluctutions. It is a position that can be game planned around and thus it will be difficult to consistently generate pressure.
