Team desperately needs a redesign/renaming

Just saw Steve Martin talking about the Bobcats team store. Jordan brand Bobcats merchandise.

I got to thinking, we're killing ourselves by not capitalizing on Jordan's brand. We need to be red/black and white (yeah the bulls use the colors, we can either use different shades or make something entirely different with blue/teal).

Bobcats colors are just boring and the name of the team is dumb. I know it can't happen midseason, but if the wheels don't start moving on this it'll never get done. The fact the team is named after an owner no longer here is reason enough to change up.

Imagine if our team logo was the Jordan logo? Jordan at flight at the center of the court.

Bunch of racists.........

Notice no matter how many bad contracts we give out. No matter how many of our players kill their girlfriends or get in trouble with the law. No matter how bad we make the city of Charlotte look with the product we put on the field. No matter how irrelevant and a joke we are to the rest of the league. No matter how much losing is in our history, no one ever asks the Panthers to change their name or logo. No one wants to erase Jerry Richardson from the team, no matter how bad he shyts on the fans. Why?

lets move on from rename the team thing, if jordan feels is needs to happen it will, but based on alot i have read lately it doesn't appear to be at the top of his list. alot of teams already use brand jordan colors, so what do you gain? the name and colors don't bother me much(except that red color they use to sport).

the reason for the team store redesign is part of brand jordan's sponsorship of the bobcats & MJ. maybe some has missed this , but any product that Jordan endorses from now on will include his nba team. he has some of his top advisors working on integrating the two brands so you might have to get use to name/logo/colors

Probably because JR is STILL the owner, therefore he wasn't able to sell the team and bad mouth the entire city right after. Or maybe it's because they aren't called the JERRYcats, but the Panthers. Or the fact the team kind of came out of the gate winning NFC championship and got people slightly hooked.

Not happy with JR this year either, but come on now.

    • It goes deeper than that for me. When I started watching the Panthers as a kid I fell in love with Mark Fields’ story during that SB run. He wore #58. Then TD wore it and kept the tradition of the being the soul of the Panthers. The next time someone wears #58 I hope brings that same spirit
    • T-Mac is a nickname, Tet is a shortening of Tetairoa. Like you said below... your name is Jonathan, I could see "Jonny" being considered a nickname, but Jon isn't a nickname, it's a shortening of Johnathan, see the difference? And if your mom named you Jonathan for it's biblical significance/meaning, because she was very religious, I think it would be different. T-Mac is Polynesian, so much in their culture has deeper meaning for them, particularly names.  So for his mom to feel this way, I highly doubt it's just because she likes the name Tetairoa and not Tet, it's much more likely than not to be because the name itself has a deeper meaning in their culture.   Particularly as T-Mac himself has often talked about how much his Polynesian heritage means to himself and his family. And no, I'm not saying all this because of how much he's my guy, if he was just "normal american" and his name was Jonathan and he didn't like fans calling him Jon, I'd probably just say tough poo.  It's that he's Polynesian and I know things like names have a much deeper meaning in their culture than they do in ours for the most part. For whatever it's worth, a quick google search.......
