Speaking of John Wayne...

This is a story that my brother told me about, related by a stuntman who worked with John Wayne on several movies.

Story was that Wayne and a group of actors and stuntmen were playing poker in a hotel room. One of the stuntmen (who'd had a few) decided to play a little game with The Duke.

The stuntman said he had a wager for him. He wanted to bet Wayne a thousand bucks that he could draw a line on the floor, stand directly across from Wayne on the other side of the line, and Wayne wouldn't be able to punch him. After thinking about it for a moment and wondering what the guy had in mind, Wayne agreed to the bet.

So the guy went over to the bathroom door and drew the line in the doorway. Wayne came over and stood on the other side of it.

The stuntman smiled, shut the door, said "Okay, go" and started laughing.

Wayne stood there for a moment, gave it some thought, looked over at the other guys still sitting at the poker table, and then looked back at the closed door.

Then he balled up his right hand, drew back his fist and punched the door with all his might :sosp:

The door came off its hinges, smacked the stuntman in the face, busted his nose and knocked him backward into the hotel bathtub.

The guy who told the story thought it was one of the funniest things he'd ever seen. he didn't know why Wayne didn't put it in one of his movies.

That's who John Wayne was :yesnod:

    • Ehhhh except a lot of it was his refusal in college not to play hero ball.....  The two things he greatly improved at the NFL level were his accuracy on the run and learning he didn't have to take the deep shot every play.   That said when taking a massive boom or bust athlete at QB the most important thing is their work ethic/coachability/desire to improve

    • The new (released today) FOX ONE app will allow you access to watch your Local FOX Station - similar to how the Paramount Plus app allows you access to watch your local CBS station It'll cost you $20/month for the privilege, but if you're having trouble accessing the over-the-air antenna for FOX, this could be an option to consider the new ESPN app will give you access to ESPN content, but not to the local ABC affiliate. A reminder: if you currently get ESPN via some TV provider (cable, satellite, youtube, etc) then you should be able to use the new ESPN app via your provider login, no additional payment required
