Rob Ryan as Head Coach?

I don't see the problem with a 3-4 defense - and people keep saying our personnel couldn't be moved to do it. I just don't see it?

If Beason can play middle or OLB, then whats the problem playing one of the inside backers in a 3-4? Anderson plays outside anyway - so as OLB, he'd be right there anyway. I'm not a D-oriented guy, but I'm just not seeing the opposition to switching if the new coach comes in and wants it. I think we have the players that could make the adjustments.

Can someone elaborate the "WHY" - not just a "our current personnel does not fit".

Ask yourself this: how did Vilma do in the 3-4?

Exactly. Beason is the same type of linebacker with the same build. You'd be wasting his talents.

it doesn't have anything to do with davidson. it has everything to do with a culture of success. i want someone that comes from that. rob ryan doesn't have that.

also...i want someone who has some success with the teams they have coached. as DC he has been with the raiders and the browns. are you calling those programs successful? i sure won't.

sorry, there isn't anything appealing about him to me. only thing he has going is his name.

The Raiders have had some pretty darn good defenses with Ryan, but they also had a meddling owner who wanted things done his way. Also, the Browns are definitely more successful than us right now, so I don't see how that factors in to the equation.

BTW, it's a good thing the Patriots didn't think like you do or they would have passed on Belichick. He couldn't win much in Cleveland either.

Rob Ryan handled the defense in Oakland for years.....some of our worst....and believe me, we've had A LOT of bad years......but Ryan's were some of the worst. I admit I am a little surprised at his "somewhat" success in Cleveland but I never EVER want him with the Raiders organization again. As a new "Panthers fan", I would hate to see him go to Carolina. Offense wins games. Defense wins championships. The HC should understand and master defense.

Rex Ryan = Great Coach

Rob Ryan = poison

just my 2 cents :)

Maybe he's having success in Cleveland because the owner is letting him coach the way he wants and go after the players he wants.

    • When a team has EXPECTATIONS you have to show them that your fandom and praise is EARNED.  People would be mad if the they lost two one goal competitive games like 2023 but they wouldn't have gotten booed out of the building because the effort and competitiveness would be there but to lose in THAT fashion at home with your entire top line going free lance and saying fug this yeahhh.
    • Well with back to back road games to open the season again we really can't afford a "slow start" at least not for the psyche of the fanbase that is already at rock bottom from years of losing. I think that will depend on our approach to preseason this go around. But I do agree the makings of a culture change could be big for us. At the same time we heard talk of this last year and then we got the doors blown off multiple times. I can agree with you it's best to try to maintain perspective until we get closer to the midway point of the season. The main things I want to see early on even if we aren't necessarily winning is spark and toughness from the offense and defense and at least keeping games close.
    • First goal hmmm im going with Verhague
