Same ol' Peppers

Peppers has played like this his entire career. He sucks up blocks, gets the occasional batted pass...then just when you think he's going for a 4-5 sack season, he gets to hammer on a one armed left tackle for three sacks.

I'm not going to sugar coat it. Look at the Panthers/Bears game for example. Peppers not ONCE (not even on a run) got by Gross, Schwartz on the other hand was beaten by the entire Bears line.

I hate excuses and making them, but Jake Long in a sling is a pretty darn good excuse.

Spoken like someone who apparently hasn't watched a single Bears game and has only watched a box score.

It's ok, Sally. I don't recall saying he was the best defensive player in the league.

BTW, congrats on having so many underpaid players. The results speak for themselves

you're a dick dude I wasn't even trying to even make a knock against you, I was just saying you have to admit he is overpaid

My bad. I was drunk. Honest... I ran out of gas. I, I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake. A terrible flood. Locusts. IT WASN'T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD.

Just like Peppers, nothing for seven weeks then playing in a big game shows up and America thinks he is the chosen one again.....he is grossly overpaid Dimbee, he is great but he is not the best defensive player in the league...not even close.

Nothing for 7 weeks? Dude there's more to it than a sack count, if that's where you're going with this. That guys presence alone is a distinct advantage for any defense he's on. He damn near gets held on every play and draws a ton of double teams . Go watch every Bears game from this season and you'll actually understand what he's brought to the team other than his own numbers. He is one of the reasons Idonije has that number of sacks. Besides, why does it matter if a team you don't even root for or like so called "overpaid" for him?

Overpaid? The Bears defense has gone from a defense that blitzed more than any team in the legue and was ranked 17th to the 4th best defense in the league and in most categories are in the top 5 (12th in passing yards allowed). They have given up the fewest ammount of points and points per game thus far. part of that is having Urlacher back ,who is playing great this season and is a mere 4 tackles away from passing HOFer Mike Singletary as the Bears all time leading tackler. Another reason is the FA signing of Julius Peppers and what he brings to the defense and the Pressure he puts on opposing qbs. Sorry Peppers haters, you can't put a price on that. If overpaid gets me those kind of defensive rankings than sign me up.

    • It appears that he sees things differently than the QB and OC, so Cam's advice is spot on. It isn't about number of targets, it's about quality of targets. Trust and being on the same page. BY doesn't know how to anticipate what XL is doing. And XL doesn't like where BY is placing passes. One on one film study would go a long way. More for BY than XL though. He has to adjust to XL. I really don't think XL can adjust on the fly.
    • If the team shows improvement, then he shouldn't be in danger of losing his job - even if the record doesn't reflect. This was a very young team (with a lot of new vet starters) that overperformed last season. Somebody's doing something right. Consistency is key with so much youth. And we're potentially looking at new starters at ILB and FS. Those are positions that take time to fully understand the defense. ILB calls the front 7. Safety calls the back 4. Injuries at WR and IOL killed the offense last season. Depth needs to be upgraded. Same with Edge. I think they would have won more games if Pat Jones doesn't go down early. Be smart with the roster and draft. Trade players for assets when it's time to pay them more than they're worth - yes, that includes BY if he doesn't make a pretty big jump. That's one of the many reasons Tillis is as important as anyone to the future of this team.
    • He had heart surgery a while back he looks Fraile I hope he is okay
