In a statement issued early Thursday, the National Weather Service predicted that 1 to 3 inches of snow could fall across metro Atlanta, with accumulations of an inch or less south of the city.

The last time there was measurable snow on Christmas Day was more than a century earlier, in 1882, when .3 inch accumulated.

I'm betting we see at least 1 foot in central NC...

Is that a euphemism?

brtw, this system has jumped the shark.

Gonna take a Festivus miracle...which is always possible. We are pretty certain to see a few flakes, but nothing massive. Maybe not even an inch which is the criteria for being considered a white Christmas.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RALEIGH HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM

WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM LATE SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH

SUNDAY AFTERNOON.

SNOW... OR A MIXTURE OF SNOW AND RAIN WILL DEVELOP LATE SATURDAY

AFTERNOON OVER THE WESTERN PIEDMONT... THEN QUICKLY CHANGE TO SNOW

AS IT SPREADS EAST ACROSS OUR REGION SATURDAY EVENING. SNOW IS

EXPECTED SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY MORNING. THIS CONTINUES TO BE

AN SITUATION IN WHICH THE FORECAST MODELS ARE HAVING A MORE

DIFFICULT TIME THAN USUAL IN THE FORECAST EVOLUTION OF THIS

POTENTIAL STORM. AT THE CURRENT TIME... GIVEN THE MODEL

UNCERTAINTY... ODDS ARE SLIGHTLY BETTER THAN 50 PERCENT THAT A

SIGNIFICANT WINTER STORM WILL AFFECT A PORTION OF CENTRAL NORTH

CAROLINA.

* LOCATIONS AFFECTED: LIGHT SNOW IS EXPECTED TO BRING 1 TO 2 INCHES

OF ACCUMULATIONS ACROSS ALL THE REGION SATURDAY NIGHT. A HEAVIER

BAND OF MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW MAY DEVELOP OVER A PORTION OF

CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA SATURDAY NIGHT LASTING INTO SUNDAY IN

WHICH 2 TO 4 INCHES OF SNOW... WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS MAY

FALL. AT THE CURRENT TIME... AREAS ALONG AND EAST OF A LINE FROM

ROXBORO TO BURLINGTON TO ROCKINGHAM APPEAR TO HAVE THE HIGHEST

CHANCE OF THE HEAVIER SNOW. THIS IS THE AREA IN WHICH A WINTER

STORM WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED.

Stay careful Triangle/Coastal fans. Hope we get a lot here in Durham...

Yeah, ok, so the models did a 180 today. This thing is looking pretty certain. Also looks like it will start earlier in the day than expected previously.

Weather models 7 days out, for winter weather, in the south are stupid. But, despite teh 180 to 180 to 180, it looks like CLT is assured of at least an inch. Could be more than 4 inches. Im being conservative. and of course, it could change...

and Merry Christmas yall.

    • Gonna be interesting to watch. All reporting indicates he's gonna be out. From what I'm hearing he's out. The interesting part will be what happens next. The job has been staying within the "family" since Dean retired. But there's no one within the family that makes any sense at all right now. They'll have to go outside the family to hire a coach that's likely to be successful and tension between the school and the basketball family is already high right now with this plot to move the arena to Carolina North because the folks within the basketball family want it to stay at the Dean Dome and they feel misled because they feel like there was never any real consideration of revamping the Dean Dome and this whole evaluation process was just meant to make it look like that was being considered. The best outcome here IMO is that we hire a great coach from outside the family and we revamp the Dean Dome as an olive branch to the family. But the powers that be REALLY want a new arena at Carolina North.
    • yeah outside of 3 shots in a row for arsenal nothing has happened.  I need a quick goal for them and then MC start to press.  Need 2 shots for Arsenal and all 4 still for MC
