Universal whine about Clausen thread

Clausen's Problem is as follows on 3 passing downs.....

1st Down Set Hike... Scan go route 1.. not open...check down RB open with 2 LB spies... throw for 2 yards....

2nd Down Set Hike... Scan go route 1.. not open... Oh sh** run 5.5 40... take sack.

3rd Down Set Hike... Scan go route 1 and 2..not open.. throw ball in dirt or in stands for lucky fan....Apoligize to Defense..get bitched out by Smitty....

Record 2-14 coincidence..I think Not....NFL Draft pick 1...:drool5: Clausen relegated to Career Backup...

Forget about the thread title. What i really want to know is why there are a good dozen threads after every game piling on the blame to Clausen.

If you are not piling blame like crap your talking smack about small hands or singing the praises of a College QB that has NOT declared yet.

What i saw last night was more of the same. Catches were NOT made when they should have been. The Oline got battered by the opposing Defense when we did decide to pass. Which everyone knew when we were gonna do cause they put Jimmy in the shotgun on just about every passing play. And our defense could not get them out in 3-4 downs.

FOX does not Clausen. Jeff Davidson does not give him plays to get comfortable. And it seems for the most part the Huddle is not patient enough to see what happens with a new OC and HC. Obviously when you compare The Golden Calf of Bristol, Bradford, Skelton and McCoy to our boy Pickles it does not look good. BUT I really would like a new WR that would go up and make the catch that Smith can NOT anymore. BUT i would really like a stud DT to get a push from the inside or stop a run. BUT i would really like a game changing Corner like Patrick Petterson. We need help lots of places. Play the Luck Sweepstakes in reverse for a lopsided trade where we can find players for several holes.

there are many on this board who talk a big game about knowing football and thought drafting clausen was smart or a steal because of where the panthers got him.

dude is a more immature midwest version of david carr

We had to hope since he was ours.

Clausen is not Brady for sure, but damn the guy is pressured on every throw and has no advice from anyone. How many drops did the WR have today...yes even Smitty continued his case for a trade. Really to pin this seasons effort on the development of a rookie QB is insane. You put any QB behind this OL and Davidson calling plays and he will fail also. I'm no Clausen fan but this team has a ton of problems on the offensive side of the ball, except RB. The FO could at least brought in a veteran with experience, but we sign SP and Null, this is a complete mess.

No one is playing up to their potential on this team. He may not be this bad with better coaches....won't know till we get them. But likely he is not going to be great.

I think Bruschi was dead on with the potential aspect. He literally has not improved anything in his game since he first went under center. It's too easy to point out things he's doing wrong in a given game, but the fact that he can't seem to fix any errors throughout the season tells something, he's simply not ready to be a starting QB for us or in the NFL.

No one here to help him improve.

Not saying I believe in Clausen. I want Luck too. But a rookie QB on this team, with this coaching staff, never had a chance.

The one area I think he has improved in is his game speed. He talked about the game slowing down for him and I think this is true. He looks crisper under center taking snaps and is a little more in Sync with the team.

Hasn't translated into onfield performance so hey

If you can't see that Clausen is a bad QB then you aren't paying attention

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
