You take AJ Green. Why? Because Steve Smith will probably ask to be traded. You find a free agent QB, overpay for average, and draft a kid like RIcky Stanzi. You want to break the bank with Newton, a bust waiting to happen?

I had an arguement with Mark Packer, "Packman" on the Charlotte radio station a few years ago. He was telling me that there was a big, strong, SEC QB who was a can't miss prospect. Rocket arm. I argued that the guy was self-centered, could not read defenses, and would take the money, buy an Escalade, big house, three carat diamond earrings, and bust. Yes, we were talking about Jamarcus Russell. I emailed him a couple years later and he just made a joke about it, but he was so certain Russell was going to be a star. I realize that Newton has a different skill set, but he relies on running and improv, not reading complex defenses.

Anyone can bust, but few have bust written all over them like Newton does. Luck is the only QB I would have taken in the first round since before I can remember. Bradford? I would have passed. Injury history. Stafford? Not a first overall pick.
