Teams with vacancies:

Cleveland

Carolina

Teams with vacancies but that had interim coaches to finish the season:

Denver

Dallas

Minnesota

San Francisco

Teams potentially cutting ties with their current HCs:

Miami

Tennessee

Jacksonville

Oakland

Cincinnati

Houston

Teams suspected to make a change but coming out and saying they weren't:

San Diego

NY Giants

Unknowns:

Buffalo

Personally, I see Denver and Miami as being the front runners for Cowher and Gruden. I think Fox goes to Cleveland. Garrett and Frazier stay in Dallas/Minnesota. Oakland might hang onto Cable, and I suspect Kubiak will remain in Houston. Gailey also should stay in Buffalo.

That leaves us, San Fran, Tennessee, Jacksonville, and Cincy in competition for Harbaugh/the rest...

What about Singletary? I bet we can get him cheap.....and he is black. :D

Don't want him. Can't win with him. I would rather have no coaching staff and be unable to accept a positive penalty on every play than have guys like that. I want winners.

Now, to illustrate my point visually, I'm going to take my pants down for a minute. Just to demonstrate how we are all getting our butts handed to us in this search for a new coach.

Cable is out in Oakland. Mangini in Cleveland as well. And Lewis in Cincy is officially out as of now. Brown could sign him to a new contract but right now they are without a coach. Lewis was in the same situation that Fox was in.

Minnesota has already announced Frazier as the next coach.

And Houston has already said Kubiak is staying so...

I think New England proves how you can't put much thought into a coaches previous venture when evaluating him as being "good". I mean, the Patriots signed Bill Billicheck after he spent five seasons in Cleveland and only had one winning season! What the Patriots saw in him was something nobody else did.

Sometimes you have to wonder if certain guys just don't fit in certain systems. If the coach isn't bad, it's who he plays for.

For some reason, I think Mangini is a good coach. I think the Jets and the media circus that surrounded the team as a bit much and Cleveland is just bad, whether Mangini or Billicheck is the head coach!

There are even rumors out of New England, that when Billicheck's contract is up after the 2013 season, that Mangini is the top candidate to replace him... regardless of his past head coaching record.

BUT the bottom-line is.. you never know what to expect out of the head coaching carousel!

    • Jake in his prime was a gutsy QB. But just like with even someone like Cam. Father time is undefeated. It's very unfortunate we have a guy who is only 24 years old that has an equivalent arm to that. Absolutely blows my mind that our brain trust lacked the basic common sense to value arm talent when making a massive trade with ramifications for years to come. Unforgivable incompetence.
    • Jake, to me, will always hold a special place in my heart.  I really feel like for his era, he deserved way more love than he got, and should’ve had more than his one Pro Bowl.  He was a gamer with an underrated rocket arm. but let me tell you, after his Tommy John surgery, when he came back, I can’t remember who it was against, but it think it was a division game, he threw a ball that was supposed to be a throw away, as I think he was under pressure, and that poo floated forever and died right at the boundary where a defender ran over and picked it off.  One of the worst throws I ever saw.  His arm just wasn’t the same after the injury and surgery.  All that to say, that’s what almost every Bryce throw to the sidelines looks like to me.
    • And again, when watching him in college he had one distinct trait that I feel makes a franchise QB - on those plays when everything breaks down around him, he creates one on his own.  He doesn’t rely on or need everyone else.  That play last night on the final drive where he was getting sacked and threw it to Diggs before his knee hit the ground?  He does similar things all the time.  Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, etc., they all do it.  It’s what made Cam so special. but we picked a guy that’s the opposite of that.  He desperately needs someone else to make a play for him because he can’t.  Even that play yesterday on 4th down to Horn.  That wasn’t a great pass.  The defender was late and came down to make a play in the ball and Bryce threw it high and outside where Horn had to leave his feet and really use strong hands to catch it.  We relied on a 5’9” rookie playing in his first pro game to make THAT catch at THAT time bc of the early turnovers and a not great throw.  Crazy.
