To Cam or not to Cam that is the question...

Newton is a project who should sit on the bench for a year, dont draft him. Locker wont be picked as number one overall, but i like him. dont know much on Gabbert, but he's worth a look and Ryan Mallett has the arm, but he's not that mobile.

really????????? behind jimmy? i give it 2 games before they are calling for jimmys head. but news flash...there really aren't any other options. at the least cam would sell jerseys and energize the fan base.

HELL NO!

No other QB on that list is worth the first round pick. Luck was the only worthy QB draft for the Panthers. Everyone else on that list will end up no different than more of what we had in Clausen and Moore. If we can't trade down we take Green and run.

Enough QB drafts. We will find other avenues to fill this hole sooner or later. We are in serious need of filling other holes and Luck was the only person I could see that could justify us not concentrating on our other problems.

Everyone seems so worried about Cam being a year or two away from being NFL ready. WE (The Panthers) might be a year or two away from being competitive enough to go far in the playoffs. Why worry about his maturation right now. Cam Newton Could be to us what Josh Freeman is to the Bucs if given that year or two.

Go after BPA. If it is Cam then so be it. I am sure that he is worth 55million.

I'd take him. Why not?

why not, well, first off, he will want ALOT of money and could be a contract holdout, Second, unlike others, he's not ready to start and third i dont think he would stay healthy all year.

Cam Newton would sell jerseys to all the fans who are NOT Gamecock fans (bet some still call him $cam) and he would make an exciting play, but he would also throw poor passes and show bad footwork, he's not ready and i didnt say sit him behind Jimmy, if they draft Newton, Clausen is GONE and will end up on the Titans learning from a former Panther for a year.

Simple, because starting a QB too soon could end up with him being a bust, look at Russell, look at Vince Young, started too soon and he ended up losing his job to Collins and had to wait a year to get it back. As for Freeman, different quarterback. Freeman passes more from the pocket and Freeman wasnt picked number one overall.

    • We’re in a pickle. My best hope is we protect him and can run the ball vs most Ds and the WRs are healthy so he has every chance to not look like what he looked like in too many games last year.
    • I'm really not stressing about upgrading from Bryce. I'm frustrated with our inability (or refusal) to recognize overall bad QB performance and failure to seriously address the issue. QB is the most impactful position on the field, and we're not only settling for what we've been given to this point, but we've rewarded it with a fully guaranteed 5th year extension for a player that's never played 2 NFL franchise QB quality games back to back in 3 seasons. I can't understand how that's ok from a coach's or GM's viewpoint. Successful franchises don't do things like this. It just doesn't make sense.  We do not have a top half of the league QB right now. Since we don't have that player, we should be looking for him. Pickett isn't it. Grier isn't it. Bryce hasn't proven he is yet. Until you have that sure fire franchise QB, you keep looking. You're not consistently making the playoffs, a deep run, or a SB appearance without one.  What's the worst that could happen? We end up with 2 potential number 1 QBs? How horrible.
    • Easy to understand Pickett, if this is anywhere close to on point. Canales wants to get as close to Bryce as he can- get the pace and timing in the throws as close a he can to Bryce. So the other players don’t have to adjust so much, to a new guy.       If Cam was the 1, he would look for a rocket arm.  But Bryce is the 1. Look for limited in the same way.  Low velocity, plenty of air under it, feels just like home when Picket comes in. And you have the guys on the second team not having such a radical adjustment (if they have to play) like with Dalton to Bryce.    Enter Grier. I guess we will collect those types.
