What happened to the 100 post thread starting minimum?

I've been a member for a while so maybe that accounts for the ability to post, I usually just read the post here...been since this past August or so...but lets get back on topic.

You never ever completely empty a position, so in my opinion Neblett will get a shot here.

I was wondering what the deal was with Ed Johnson...seemed like he was on a bit of a tear then just kinda disappeared, and became second string, anyone know why?

We played better on defense than we did on offense, so the majority of the changes should be made on offense. But even if we hadn't, being ranked 32 in practically every offensive statistic pretty much forces the team to focus on offense, even if small problems exhbited a dramatic effect. On defense, we'll obvious add a Tackle. Linebackers and Cornerbacks are always a possibility if they are available for the right price/pick.

But I would hope most of our roster additions and subtractions are on offense.

On the line, I don't think any player is safe. We have to plan for the worst case scenario too, that Otah is NOT coming back healthy in 2011, or that Wharton will be in and out of service, even if their recovery is on track. Getting upgrades to Right Tackle and Right Guard is nothing short of an emergency. I predict we sign free agents AND spend early picks.

Clausen gets a guaranteed spot for no other reason than he was our first pick of 2010. Pike will have to fight for a spot, but if he's learned anything from his NFL experience so far, he should be ahead of the curve to land a spot.

LaFell and Gettis are probably the only WRs that we can count on being present in 2011. I would not be surprised to see Smith traded. I would not be surprised to see Armanti fail to make the team. If the league is limited to two preseason games, that does not bode well for non-starting 2nd/3rd year receivers (and practice squad receivers) trying to make the cut, it does bode well for a free agent receiver or the extremely unlikely early draft pick.

Our TEs did not impress in 2010. Depending on how the CBA returns, it would not surprise me to see a new position coach say trade/cut one of our three TEs, and sign ro draft a new one.

There's really two routes the team can go. One is to pack talent around our young QB's and hope they develop. I see this approach as MORE likely. The other route is to retain the talent we have, plus or minus a receiver, and start anew with a fresh QB. This is popular amongst a lot of fans, but I do not think it is very likely based on my perception of the franchise and its history.
