Men have upper hand in sexual economy

It's not a new theory: As women progress in educational and professional opportunities, their odds of finding a committed man appear to go down. Women in their 40s and 50s have long heard this, but new research finds it's true for women just entering adulthood as well.

That's one of the findings in the new book "Premarital Sex in America: How Young Americans Meet, Mate and Think About Marrying," by researchers Mark Regnerus and Jeremy Uecker at the University of Texas at Austin.

They looked at the results from a number of national studies including the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health and the National Study of Youth and Religion, in addition to interviews with young people ages 18 to 23.

Researchers found that since women in the 18- to 23-year-old group feel they don't need men for financial dependence, many of them feel they can play around with multiple partners without consequence, and that the early 20s isn't the time to have a serious relationship. But eventually, they do come to want a real, lasting relationship. The problem is that there will still be women who will have sex readily without commitment, and since men know this, fewer of them are willing to go steady.

The wide availability of pornography has also influenced the dynamics of relations between men and women, Regnerus said. A segment of 20-something men are content to have their sexual experiences by themselves, removing them from the pool of available partners. That means high-quality men - likely those who want monogamous, committed relationships - are still eligible for dating, but the overall dating pool has shrunk, meaning some women will be left unsatisfactorily single.

Researchers also found that marrying at or before age 20 constitutes the greatest risk for subsequent divorce, the data show. Early marriage doesn’t cause the divorce, but the partners are likely to be unprepared for the kinds of adjustments required, Regnerus said.

What that tells me; women who want relationships are trumped by sluts, old women have a problem getting plowed, and some guys realized their hand has no drama.

yeah that looks like its pretty much the gist of the article

I don't think anyone does but u have to admit it's easier... a lot less hassle and heart ache.

yeah its true, but its definitely not always as fun

You need to work on your other skills. How good are your sammiches? How fast can you get a beer without shaking it up?

I can make a shut the hell up sammich pretty damn well. I can get beer for myself fairly well, pour them well too

seriously, if a guy ever asked me something like that on a date, id probably get up from the table and walk out. no questions asked.

Good for you...he shouldn't be asking...he should be telling you. No need being with a guy without a spine.

    • I was going to joke and have the Chiefs throw in 2 first rounders..... But as soon as the Mahomes/Bryce trade comes through we need to hit accept and have Mahomes on the very first flight out here; no negotiation needed lol.
    • It will be interesting this year to see if spending time with some of the best QBs and play callers in the league changed Wentz at all. I really think Mills is starter material. He wasn’t awful despite being apart of two dumpster fire seasons before Demeco got there. Plus he would have zero issues seeing over the line.
    • I feel like for once every one of those guys held back. And I think there is a 5'9 100% attitude guy that they're almost hesitant to speak out against. This is the fact of the matter, it's sports. When you win, fans cheer. When you lose, fans boo. Especially consistently year after year with no end in sight. Instead of just talking about us being the Bible belt maybe talk about how we've never once in the franchise history had back to back winning seasons. We love the team, we loved and celebrated Cam and Steve, and even guys like Jake that we love not just because of talent but because of his spirit as the face of the team. But they all won.  Fans pay a lot of money on gear, and on these overpriced tickets to go out and see a horrible product. I've slowed down on watching games because I realized I was spending 4 hours of my day getting annoyed watching a consistently bad product. Outside of a few hopeful games at the end of last year Panthers football hasn't even been enjoyable to watch. When I flip the channel to a Ravens/Eagles game it almost feels like I'm watching a different sport.  I wouldn't just focus so much attention on the city, I'd ask based on the results are they justified.
