So does hiring of Fred Graves have a ripple effect on draft day?

I don't understand why people are so down on Landri. He was the only decent DT we had. A lotta people say a DT's production doesn't depend on others like a WR depends on a QB. I disagree, I think the DT's production depends at least a little on the other DT. I think considering who he was lining up next to, Landri was quite solid this year. If you value stats, there's that one that was mentioned a couple weeks or so ago, the fact that he lead the league in defensive stops (or something like that). I'm not saying he's All Pro material, but put Cofield next to him, and he'll be more than competent in my opinion. Get Cofield and that guy from Miami (I forget his name) and have Landri rotate in. Sprinkle in a 3rd round pick DT and our DT lineup is mostly set.

I also think it'll be much easier to get a Cofield or the guy from Miami or another solid DT or two that I can't think of right now (don't need stars, just solid play. I'd settle for early Kemo/Lewis production). The only FA WRs that have the combination of youth and talent to make it worthwhile are Sidney Rice (injury, Vikings will SURELY keep him) and Vincent Jackson (barely meets youth requirement, and is 1 violation from a year long suspension. No thanks). FA WRs aren't an option, in my opinion.

In response to the Corey Irvin mention, Irvin was a bit of a reach and that year's DT class wasn't as deep as this year's. There's all kinds of DTs that could still be there in the 3rd that can be quality starters in the NFL. Marvin Austin (risky pick, but high potential reward too), Phil Taylor (prolly gone before the 3rd, but maybe still there and getting a lotta hype), Jarvis Jenkins (similar build to Fairley, don't know a whole lot about him though), Jerelle Powe (like what I've seen on video of him) as well as a few others I know less about but are being discussed around the 3rd.

I'm in the Green camp. Judging from what I've seen on them all Green is in a class of his own in this year's draft. Peterson looks good, but there's question about if he's another Malcolm Jenkins - too big for CB. I honestly don't know a whole lot about Peterson, but I've watched all the videos I can find and most of them are of that one interception on the sideline (displaying very nice ball skills). The Fairley hype train has run amok in my opinion. Yea, he had ONE very nice year. Most of his "great plays" seem to have come from simple blown blocking assignments. Sure, he's quick and able to take advantage of these, but he won't get as many of these free passes in the NFL...I like Dareus more than Fairley. More multi-dimensional. He can rush the QB, he can stuff the run, he has a high motor (questions in the past seem to have been addressed this year), not a dirty player - that poo won't stand in the NFL, and no I don't want a dirty player on my team. Hard, tough, physical play is one thing. Dirty poo wouldn't fly on my team. To make a basketball comparison, people have always hyped Bruce Bowen's defense. Most of his "good defense" is just dirty play that he gets away with because he's on the Spurs. I've always hated the guy. For a prime example, search for the video on how he does a flying Fei Long/Bruce Lee kick on that one guy...can't remember who it was, think it was a Suns player. There's been plenty of player complaint about (and video evidence of) him intentionally tripping players, kneeing players in the nuts, etc.

Well that was an unintentional tirade. Anyway, I'd rather have Dareus than Fairley, but I think we can fix DT for the medium to long term in FA and draft picks that aren't #1. I think Landri is solid and earned a spot on the team, I think Hayden has to FINALLY be gone, I think very few of last year's DTs will stay (Landri and maybe 1 other for depth), and I think Green solidifies the WR position for the next decade, something Peterson wouldn't do for the CB position. If Marshall is gone, we'd still need another when Gamble is done (in much less than 10 years, probably...) He'll be 28 at the start of the season and CBs hit the 30-wall harder than DTs do.

If we are able to move down and get good value from it, I don't want a WR this year at all if Green isn't available. No others will necessarily be higher potential than Gettis/Lafell (I think Green obviously is). I think Julio Jones even isn't much better than Lafell, if any. They're very similar. I'd want BPA of CB, DT, or if the trade is FAR enough down (20s at least) then maybe look at one of the QBs if one of their top 2 or 3 are still there. I just can't make myself like any of this year's QBs though. Newton has plenty of potential and he's about the only one that RIGHT NOW I'd consider drafting in the low 1st or high 2nd (in the event of a trade).

nooooooooooooo Landri as 3rd option. I'm tied of crappy depth. Let him be 4th at best.

People are talking like Landri is still part of the team, I'm pretty sure he's a FA this year.
