Will/can the Canes keep him? 

He's an RFA, and barring a QO from another team, he'll likely stay. But it does beg the question, how hard will Carolina fight to keep him if someone else is interested?

And, as with a few other past experiences, does he want to stay?

Boom clearly has a massive future in the NHL. But he is technically a rookie and doesn’t verify playing on the 3rd line with another rookie in Nystrom. He is learning how to be a true nhl defensemen.  Canes would be retarded to let him go unless it’s for a huge package for a A plus defender like Quinten Hughes.

We need to keep him.  His size and physicality as a dman is greatly needed on this team.
