Larkin for Aho

Defense. Although +/- is influenced by the team, that’s a helluva difference between Aho and Larkin.

Absolutely. But without dogging into goal differentials over 10 years, think of it this way- Larkin has played in 5 playoff games in his career while Aho has 104. 

One has to take team success into account when looking at +/-. Hell, the team was a -132 for the season, and the roster is full of negative +/- stash for the year.

If your own eyes and everything you’ve read don’t tell you Aho is a better defensive player, I don’t know what else to tell you.

I don't really care about the defensive abilities of a top line guy who is supposed to be a goal scorer.

Matter of fact, defense is probably behind scoring/assists, face offs, playmaking and puck possession on the priority list.

I will say. The teams that win cups have forwards that forecheck and have strong defense.  Larkin doesn’t.
