To the people who say "Smokescreen!"

Recommended Posts

If you could care less about pie and/or rep, then why did you make an entire new thread about them? Seems to me that you really do care about them, you are just afraid to admit it to yourself.

Not to insult your intelligence, but this thread was about people who say "smokescreen". I was just throwing it out their possible motive.

I still believe taking a QB with the first pick is a smokescreen to entice Buffalo, Cincy or Zona. I do not believe Carolina wants to pick #1 and they would like to trade down. If no trade partner is found, I don't believe they actually take a QB, unless it is to trade the QB to another team. I believe they take one of the three top defensive prospects. I'm hoping for Peterson, but as it has been thoroughly discussed, CBs never go #1, so again, I'm hoping to trade down.

There. You have the entire smokescreen thread recapped...happy?

I believe that we are in fact throwing out what some call "smokescreens". I like to call them decoys. It's not the word itself that has bothered me, it was the repetition on every thread. I just don't care anymore.

Can someone please close this thread?

I believe you can delete it. Not sure though.

For what is worth I don't think that a smokescreen fits what we are doing right now. A smokescreen suggests you are intentionally misleading people to keep them knowing your true intentions. Right now we seem to be keeping our options open and aren't committing to one player or the other in order to have some manuvering room down the road. We likely have several options available and are waiting to see what happens. Of course we aren't going to tell people who we are picking at this point and will say good things about all of them but I don't think we are misleading people intentionally.

I think the whole smokescreen idea is coming from fans who don't like what we are saying about potentially going after a QB as a first pick and are saying we aren't going that direction and are intentionally misleading people to justify their hope that we aren't serious. I really don't know what direction we are going and honestly the Panthers might not be totally decided either. Intentionally misleading people and keeping options open are not the same things. Have we smokescreened in the past? Absolutely. Are we doing it now? No need to.

It is obvious that you are just desperate for pie and rep to help fulfill your life, which is more than likely 90% virtual.

I am also acknowledging that these people will come in here and post "smokescreen" all up and down this thread, but regardless I thought it should be made public about your desperate attempt at personal fulfillment.

It's still too early for smokescreens. Too long to maintain them
