Total War: Shogun

The AI is a lot better too. Definitely a chess match, emptied my town to attack theirs. Their army popped out of the forest, ambushed me and took my town next turn. Tricky bastards.

Yeah I started chasing down a rebel army that was in the forest, away from the road. They strung me along for a few turns then attacked my castle when I was too far away to do anything about it. I was pleasantly surprised and pissed at the same time. The siege AI is still horrid when attacking though. They seem to just randomly throw units at you a couple at a time. Defending castles has been trivial.

If you have 4 archers they can defend anything thats thrown at them. Inflict 50% casualties before their army hits the walls. Love how the units fall off the wall when killed.

Edit: Well at least in the early stages. Once soldiers start getting upgrades Ashigaru Archers don't do as much damage.

What do you guys do about food riots causing rebellion. About halfway through my campaign I always end up having to fight off several rebellions in several provinces. I try to limit castle building and research farming asap but you gotta have some bushido arts or get baby stomped by other armies.

Yeah food supply is a bitch. I always start a campaign very defensively, building up roads/trading/money in general. I started a Chosokabe campaign and took the island with 5 provinces and just started racking in the money. Now I have over 100K and am about to start raping some bitches. The money goes quick though, my Date campaign fell apart once the shogun got threatened by me.

I'm about 12 years or so into a Takeda campaign. I've pretty much been in some sort of war for most of that time aside from probably 3-4 years in the middle. I've taken 8 provinces and have good allies to my east/south east and west so I've been able to avoid a 2 front war. Currently at war with the Hattori and the clan right next to them (forgot the name). My income is only about 2.4k/turn right now so I plan on building that up after my conquests against the Hattori and their ally.

Fun game so far I'm glad I bought it. Next campaign I'm going to up the difficulty and play as either the Chosokabe or the Mori.
