You don't take a QB first overall unless you're absolutely sure he's the real deal. If they have any questions about Cam succeeding they shouldn't take him.....period. Same goes for Gabbert' date=' Locker, Mallet or even Luck if he was in the draft....[/quote']

I'll leave it up to the talent evaluators on our team to decide if the QB's are the real deal or not.

To me WR is too much a luxury pick that you take when all other franchise positions are filled (Bill Walsh philosophy) but again I don't scout or pick in the NFL.

I don't follow the logic . Following what you said we will never be able to draft any QB... there is always some risk involved, and you can not be sure what anybody is going to do until they are but in those situations.

I mean even right now Kevin Kolb has had a chance to play games in the NFL and there are still varying opinons on him. Some believe he can be the man, others are unsure. Look at Matt Moore a year ago. The way he finished the season a lot of us were sure he was going to be a good QB this season, but he made a complete 180 and did not perform when he was the man this season.

So everyone has some risk and you will never be sure. Only players like Manning and Brady who have consistently done it over multiple years are the only Qb's you can be sure about.

    • We’re past the talk and hypotheticals with Bryce. If he needs a perfect game from his receivers to not put up a stinker he’s not franchise starter material.
    • If you need someone to run your multi-billion dollar business, maaayyyybe don't hire a guy whose previous work experience includes repeated blows to the head and literal brain damage but IDK.
    • Extrapolate that with every QB for that matter. I guarantee you there's quite a bit of missed opportunities and yards left on the field for everyone. Many NFL QBs deal with WRs not putting in A+ effort, subpar o-line play and other deficiencies. The great ones are able to rise above these issues and create opportunities for plays. Guys like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes can both play in and out of structure, as well as find ways to get yards when things break down and mask mistakes by throwing guys open, creating opportunities from nothing, etc. Bryce Young has only shown he's able to make things happen when the rest of the team picks up his slack. Very rarely does he create those opportunities himself. When this is a consistent pattern year after year with Bryce where he shows up lackluster, it's a concern. This is year three and he should be elevating the team as a first overall pick this franchise traded up for.  He was far from elevating anyone against JAX. In fact, he needed others to elevate and create for him. Excuses may be fine for a rookie, but this is year three for the first overall pick. Not looking good so far.
