Continuity on the O-Line, I must be Dreaming!

I cant remember since Fox has been here where we have had continuity on the O-Line for 2 seasons. It took 6-7 years but he finally got it. Now lets get Hangman signed and we can go into next year without worry on the O-line and we can focus on revamping the D-Line the whole offseason...

Gross, Wharton, Kalil, Vincent, Otah....What a crew!

( Vincent can be replaced with Hangman..)

how can you celebrate continuity on the line and in the same post say that vincent can be replaced? Vincent was huge in the performance of our line this year.

Took this long to get a crew together that was worth keeping!!!

Vincent played well for us, which is why I feel bad for him and his injury, as it means we'll probably have to find a replacement, or damn good insurance for him.

Unfortunately, I think you may be right about Vincent. I believe Hartwig had a similar injury and it took him a couple of seasons to get back into form.

Hartwig was never in form. He's still not any good. Maybe it was the injury, maybe not. I'm just not ready to write vincent off.

I dont know how you can compare Vincent and Hangman in terms of being locker room guy? They both arent leaders of the team, nor are they the best players on our line, they are actually probably the worst of all the starters. But i wouldnt blink if Hangartner replaced him. Ive seen for the past 2 seasons Geoff come into the game, whether at guard or center and step right in with no dropoff in production whatsoever.

I like Vincent, but he's easily the most replaceable guy on our line, especially when we might have to give some money to versatile, team player Hangartner who is a Fox kind of guy who can play multiple positions on the line. Keeping Geoff or Vincent still keeps continuity on the line...

The point is that groin injuries can take a long time to heal and longer for the player to be back to 100%. In other words, they can't count on Vincent being ready for the opener.

Reminder: This is Vincent's 2nd groin injury. I'm not writing him off, but that's why we got him so cheap to begin with. He was signed by a team and not fully ready to start during the year it took him to recover from his last one. Just sayin. Precautions need to be taken there.

Didn't we go into the year that Wharton hurt his knee with a repeat lineup? Problem was the lineup sucked donkey balls with Hartwig and Wahle IIRC. Meh, I could be wrong.

And Vincent is a much better run blocker than Hangartner. In a backup situation Hangartner usually does well becuase he uses his brains to compensate for his limited ability. IMO Vincent is starter quality, Hangartner is not. Bridges is also a much better physical blocker than Hangartner. If he would ever get his mind right, he could start, too, but judging form his repeated actions off the field, I don't think he ever will.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
