They can't use 2010 rules, 2010 rules have franchise tags, transition tags, restriction on player movement, a salary cap etc. the NFL will be found in contempt of court if they try to follow 2010 rules.

The owners made their bed now they have to sleep in it, no restriction on free agent movement period.

If he is dealt this will be the biggest upset for Carolina Fans. Loosing Peppers would be nothing compared to loosing Smitty. He has been a fan favorite for a decade now, and the team just wouldn't be the same without him. :(

steve smith can still be a dynamic player on our team and I'd really rather not lose that element of our offense..I think he just wanted to leave because he was underutilized to oblivion last year and didn't think a philosophy change was going to happen..but so far it seems things are changing.
