So about the Falcons' trade up for Jones...

In our mock offseason I had the Falcons trade their 1st, 2nd, and 6th this year for the 11th overall and took Robert Quinn. Considering what the Falcons gave up, and the fact that Jerry Jones openly said he was shopping his pick, I think he would have taken something like what I gave Houston in the mock offseason, or maybe he would have required the 1st and 4th this year and 1st next year (leaving Atl with this year's 2nd and next year's 4th) and they could have taken Quinn, which fills a MUCH bigger need for them. I honestly think that's what they should have done. Hell, they would have been better off making the trade they did and taking Quinn at #6 in my opinion. What do you guys think? Just thought it was funny, they made a similar trade that I did in the mock offseason, but made a luxury pick instead of filling a big hole.

I don't understand why so many think ATL gave up too much. They began the draft with exactly 1 pick in the 1st round. They used exactly 1 pick to get the Observer's 5th rated player. What they basically did was gave up next year's 1st (which will probably not be so hot a pick) to move up from #27 to #6. The other draft spots just mean that they'd have to part with a player already on the roster if the drafted player makes the roster. They definately got some firepower.

You're exactly right. That's what a team can do when they don't have a lot of holes to fill. Having a bunch of draft picks isn't all that great. If I was ATL I'd rather have an experienced PRO player in as many roster spots as possible instead of an unknown quality COLLEGE draft pick.

And as far as picking at 6 instead of 27? It's like knowing you have to pay more to have a steak instead of a hamburger. I'd take quality over quantity.
