Our division getting scarier

Lumps

i like what walterfootball said...The only way you trade up that high and take a WR is if you know you are getting a Calvin Johnson or Larry Fitzgerald.

even as a Bama fan, Ive said this before, I see a ton of Dwayne Jarrett in Julio. ill be pulling for him as well as Mark. That was a tough day for a Bama fan who is also a Panther fan. Ill be pulling for Mark more than Julio though. when I heard his name called for the Saints, I puked, cried and cussed lol.

What is the big deal!!!! Too move up from the Wayyy back to the front you gave up....

Two forths (WOW!! Two 4th round picks thats just going to add unneeded depth),

Like the 54th pick of the draft... decent pick, but nothing amazing

and a first round next year.... Which will probably be in the later part of the round...

So to move up they gave up a proabable late 1st round pick from next year, and a decent 2nd rounder.... It''s not that that big of a deal!!!.... they still have other picks.

Also considering you will usually be drafting later, your never gonna be able to draft a talent like that in the 20's.

Atlanta already has R. White. Jones doesn't have a lot of pressure on him to be spectacular just yet. That is one scary duo, one that makes me wonder how the hell we are going to defend it.

Gettis and LaFell better bust their ass. We need to them to be good. I think drafting Cam was not just a need pick, but also because the staff obviously has some faith in the current squad. I hope they work hard.

The reality is that Newton could end up looking good and we might not really sniff the playoffs for 3 years or so if one of the other 3 teams doesn't take a dive.

Best division in football, IMO.

If any of the NFC South teams lose their QB for a few games to a season, they become extremely vulnerable. Carolina is in a unique position if Jimmy Clausen turns out just to be decent, because it gives the Panthers two QB's that could step in and keep the ship afloat. Or we keep Matt Moore around as a backup, at least we know he's capable of winning.

I don't know how everyone here is bashing the crap out of Atl and their defense.... They have pieces. It's not like they were 4-12 last year... They went 13-3 with that defense in a damn good division!!

The Falcons only had 31 sacks last season. 13 were from the 32 year old Abraham. They allowed 4.6 yards per carry. Hell, in our two games against them we had 349 rush yards... and obviously we had no passing game to speak of. They knew the run was coming and couldn't do jack about it. Only reason Atlanta appeared to have a good defense all season is because they are always on the sidelines. That offense holds on to the ball for AGES. I don't know any Falcon fan who thinks their defense is solid.

So yeah, it was a horrible pick. I have no idea why they are so obsessed with first round WRs that have dropping problems... Jenkins never solved it and it took Roddy three seasons.

Yup, and we were 23rd worst in the league in rush yards given up per game and we don't get a DT, the Falcons were 10th best. We can't stop the run and don't have a second pick. We probably look foolish to others as well.

Well you have to look at it in context... the Falcons were passed on a lot more often due to being in the lead. It makes sense that they didn't allow much rush yards. However they allowed 4.7 yards per carry.

We were 23rd in yards allowed but I think we were 28th in rushing attempts. Obviously teams that are run on a lot will allow more yards. But we only allowed 3.9 yards per carry... and 20 TDs (at least half of these were in the redzone) which is admittedly awful.

And if other football boards I go to is any indication... we do look quite foolish to others lol. :(

Admittedly 3.9 is better than 4.7 yards per attempt. The bad thing is at practically 4 yards a carry, teams didn't have to throw the ball to get a first down. :(
