That's fair, but I was implying more that the quality of the guys behind him would allow the team to cut him. That said, given the amount of time the D was on the field, 22 tackles is pretty weak for a 4-3 starting defensive end regardless of the coaching situation.

plus 0 sacks,no way to sugar coat his season last year. he should be cut. and we did look at TB after he was considered a bust, why not do the same with Vernon.

Brown is not knocked for his rushing ability, He is no good at run defense and when you have shtty DTs, it makes it worse.
that has been the knock on him, but the evidence and stats point to that not being the case. he's not elite, but he isn't bad at all.

i do agree that the DT situation has made things look worse than they really were, though, and improving the interior is going to make the DEs a lot more effective.

at the very least he has done nothing to warrant us not looking for an upgrade in FA this year. the bar is set pretty low so finding that upgrade should not be difficult.
