Falling Skies TV Series

I have been lost without him. I'm pretty sure I watched ER every single day from the time I was 10-18.

Overall I thought it was a pretty solid episode. Nothing special about it though, too many stereotypical elements to it. Cylons 3.0 with Predator sights to aim. Wish there was a little more creativity on the alien end but we will see. Pretty well written, it looks like they got a lot of seasoned writers for the show. Graham Yost is a great writer so thats good news.

Ahh that reminds me of a scene in the show that the teacher telling noah wyle that the skiiters modeled the mechs as bipedals to intimidate the people.. and you talking about the predator sights makes me think the aliens watched the predator movies and modeled the mechs laser sights and the mechs faces even look predatorish..

It was ok. I had lowered expectations for it so that made it better. I almost gave up on it after the first hour, but the second hour was way better. I read that it hits it's stride after episode 6 so I'm going to keep checking it out.

Well if its after ep. six good thing its not on FOX.

My mom was up for a visit and was really wanting to see it and I was slightly intrigued by it so I sat down with her and watched. I remembered Noah Wylie from ER growing up and thought he was considered a pretty good actor, heard Spielberg was involved, and figured it couldn't be too bad with them involved for a TV series...

Overall, pretty good, but the writing was EXTREMELY disappointing and seems to have lacked continuity and common sense at times. There were a lot of holes in the script and storyline...

It was pretty much on its way to being the best show on cable right now until they introduced that douchebag and his "post apocolyptic bandit" gang. Just didn't make any sense at all... He completely ruined the show once they brought him in. IF the girl from his group had been raped and mistreated, why didn't she use the opportunity escorting the son back to the resistance as a chance to share what happened to her and bring back enough people to overthrow the guys who kidnapped Noah Wylie's character?

Instead, she beats his son up for trying to escape and then brings him back, hears one of the rejects plans on having his way with the new girl and shoots him??? SMH... Then, the leader of the "bandit" faction... SMH... What a retard. What is the point in not joining forces with the resistance? Power in numbers? Humans are being killed/abducted, essentially wiping out the human race and you think you should help kill them off by fighting your fellow man?

Also, he had what? A 6 man crew? What were they gonna really do against an entire militia? LOL... Ridiculous. This guy just really messed up the whole thing for me. I think his acting sucked, his logic/reasoning was absurd (if you can call it that), and he just seemed like an irrational idiot.

My other problem was he tells Noah Wylie to kill them you should shoot their legs first and weaken them, then shoot for the head... Okay genius, if you have a clear shot at the head, WTF would you shoot their legs and waste ammo? Just stupid.

Besides that guy's horrible performance and presence in the show (and I think his increased role in future episodes will only undermine the rest of what's going on and hurt the show), I think they should've thought out the aliens' weaponry and abilities a bit more. The aliens seem awfully inaccurate and their weapons seem a bit primitive to have all of the other technology they have.

But, other than these few problems, overall the show has good promise.

Prodiddy the whole rape thing was used as a shock factor for the audience. The rebels were there only to show that some people will only care for themselves. The series has only aired one episode in which you are required to take a leap of faith and believe the current alien invasion setting. To say there are holes in the plot line is a bit premature. Don't be so hard on it yet.

I understand what elements are at play, and what they were "trying" to do, but the delivery sucked. Like I said, the rebel leader guy was not a very good actor, seemed inconsistent and over-dramatic.

And here are the problems with those specific instances you were referring to - the "rape" thing only works in shocking the audience, IF it's shocking. I don't know about you, but I wondered about that before he even addressed the other girl and asked her to stand up. Once he asked her to stand up so he could look at the goods, that just cemented it for me that the other girl that had ran with them had been taken advantage of.

The problem with this is that presenting this at this point undermined what happened before... If that weighed on her so much, she would've taken the first opportunity to get out of there and she didn't. Instead, she returned and only shot him once he suggested he would do it to the other girl. Just isn't cohesive...

Then I get that there will always be factions among people in times of crisis, but this one was poorly presented. Aside from the reasons I listed in the previous post, there were too many times that even a crazy rebel leader would know in order to survive he would have to surrender or join forces with the resistance - instead, he gets all of his men killed, including his brother, is still easy going, cocky, and bragging about how exhausted he is from leading this s***ty gang. He decides to be imprisoned then previews for what's to come show him spending quality time with one of Wylie's sons teaching him about weapons I believe, fighting with the resistance, working with the others, etc.

That is just ridiculous. The guy was psycho enough to get several people killed for illogical reasons and then is allowed to use weapons and fight alongside people he tried to get annihilated by a 50 cal gun and alien bombs, lol.

I'm not ragging on the show, like I said... Wylie and many of the other main characters deliver great performances and the story was fathomable and well put together up until this idiotic rebel guy was introduced... The whole crew just jacked up things.

That being said, it still has a lot of promise - the kids being controlled by the back to neck leech thingys, they still have to observe and figure out what the aliens' weaknesses are, how do they tick, etc., the missing kids, etc. And very good effects for a cable show... I just hope they kill off the rebel guy for all the previous listed reasons.

It's always a giant gamble when you want to introduce a character that is "bad" but "now with the good guys". You have to get a balance of sympathy and understanding along with the idea that he could become a loose cannon. This one was handled worse than others I've seen. They had the other guy talking about rape, but the character they are keeping is in charge and responsible for this crew.

Exactly. Hopefully they find a way to save face with him, but like I said, it's gonna be hard as things currently stand, but I guess we'll see.
