Kris Jenkins said Dan Morgan is the best defensive player he has ever played with.

Too bad he couldn't stay on the field. I don't have anything against the guy, but to me Morgan is kind of Exhibit A with what frustrates me with the Panthers. By the...I dunno, 4th time he was knocked out for the season on the first play of the first game and we didn't have a clear plan B, I was like, OK you're not even trying.

as far as this discussion is concerned, pointing out his injury history is not only well documented, but totally irrelevant.

but yes, John Fox was a very frustrating coach to watch..

I hear you bleys, Morgan was a great talent, but I don't think you can discuss Morgan's careeer as a Panther without touching upon his tendency toward injuries and Panthers' management stubbornly refusing to address the problem. In short, it's not irrelevant.

I remember going into Morgan's last year, we'd shed a couple of LBs, don't recall who they were, and I'd been griping about it, given Morgan's history, with my best buddy. We met up for the Panthers' opener at our favorite pub and I said something like, "I can't BELIEVE we're counting on Morgan" and he said "Yeah I know" and on the first fuging series he was out forever.

By the way, I'm not sure Fox was the reason for continuously being shorthanded on personnel. He may have been part of the problem, but I think our front office has alot to prove. I guess we'll start to find out moving foward.

you absolutely can talk about his talent without bringing up injuries, because he didn't say "Dan Morgan had the greatest career" out of all the people he played with..

this discussion is solely about when Morgan was on the field.. so therefore, we can leave injuries out of the discussion.

The Panthers also avoided receivers like they were the plague. Seems to me Fox had a lot of pull. It's been well documented that the drafting process included both Fox and Hurney. Fox being the football guy gives me every reason to believe Hurney let the man form a team around his philosophy.

jesus fuging christ every dan morgan thread is the same fuging poo over and over again

Helplessly terrible OP creator: "hey guys dan morgan mentioned in an article"

Lame joke poster: "LOL concussion"

Guy who agreed with lame joke poster in a different thread and is now his sycophant: "rofl concussion joke"

Person who brings nothing to the table on this forum: "lmfao PCS"

Person who just realized nobody mentioned Morgan's other career failures: "lol cheese mo'z"

Disgruntled white knight poster with no sense of humor: "YOU fuging assholes talkin poo blah blah blah rage face blah blah blah"

Person awkwardly trying to save thread by posting benign commentary but not doing a very good job at it: "you know dan morgan was one of the best linebackers and probably the best panther linebacker of all time"

Person who can't get over 2003 and doesn't realize any credible sports website only acknowledges 18 total tackles: "yo dan morgan i heard had like those 25 tackles in the sb"

Person who never watched a panthers or NFL game before 2006: "i know its crazy he's not better than beason tho"

Person who actually takes the previous poster dead serious: "what r u talking about bro morgan was better than beason he was bigger just as fast better in run support etc etc etc"

Yeah, I suppose you're right, I retract.

Re: Fox - do you think he simply didn't want to bring FAs in general, even when there were obvious needs? I just find it hard to believe a coach would shoot himself in the foot like that.

what we view as shooting him in the foot could have simply been his philosophy worked in the past, why wouldn't it in the future?

I think hindsight shows his early success proved his system worked and he stuck to his guns on it.. run the ball, stop the run...

we know how stubborn he was..

Trying to decide which one is me. I guess this sort of fits.

Nah, poor fit.

I guess, but if he was calling all the personnel shots, he took his philosophy to quite an extreme.
