Chicago Tribune Olsen Article: Decent Read

Roy Williams WAS very successful with the Lions. He didn't work out so well with the Cowboys.

I'm not trying to be a dick here or anything just.........

I wouldn't expect anything great out of Roy Williams. He MAY revitalize his carreer in Chicago, who knows. However he has only ever had one really successful season, and that was in 06. Outside of that he has never put up #1 type numbers, and the last few years have been especially disappointing.

If we're in 12 or 22 personnel it will be obvious we're running the ball to Shockey's side. Of course, if they bring a safety into the box, Olsen could streak down the middle for a quick 6.

Olsen CAN block, he may not be very good at it but its not like the dude is TOTALLY useless on run downs.

What most people are missing is that its not going to be Newtons best friend but Smiths. No more 2 and 3 man coverage of Smith. That poo is gone and if they do they will be punished by Shockey and Olsen. Smith,Gettis, and Edwards should all have poo ass grins on there face because the streak patterns will be wide open with two good pass caching TEs.

Punished by Shockey??? Maybe five years ago. Shockey is just about done in the NFL. He won't make it through the season. Anyway, now that you have Olsen, you don't even need Shockey IMO.

He certainly doesn't fit the 'complete' TE package that Rivera was talking about when he was appointed, pretty useless as a blocker. He also has more hype surrounding his ability in the passing game than is actually warranted - more like a top 15-20 than a top 5 prospect.

Just looking at a few plays of his seems to show it's his athleticism that gets him catches, not his route running or intelligence.

I would have been happy if it were a 4th rounder, then I would feel like it's a good deal for us. For a 3rd rounder, I feel a little uneasy.

Got my homer glasses on, but I think he is going to be a monster in this offense. He and Smitty and Cam are gonna do some damage. Some serious damage.
