It may have actually been a strategic move by the panthers to drive the price up on him. I wouldn't be surprised if the panthers made a lot of offers that we didnt hear about, in an effort to make those other teams use up more of their cap. 5 Mil a year is a lot of money for a 32 year old reciever who has only really had 1 pro bowl caliber season.
