Winners and losers from tonight

Goodson was a big disappointment. I sure hope he gets the fumbling under control in the preseason. I would imagine that he will se a lot of playing time. I don't see how you can play him in the regular season in any role other than returns until he proves he can be trusted. This was a major problem last year and two fumbles in limited action is scary. I know a lot of people here were ready to let DW go b/c they were so confident in Stew and Goodson. Not so much.

Fumbling a return is probably worse. He just needs to get a handle on it.

In the meantime, we're not lacking for depth at RB.

Jimmy and Cam were both winners IMO, Cb's Burney, McClain, Stanford. LB Williams was EVERYWHERE and Barnidge.

Losers: Goody, Robinson, WR 2.

Fua , Irvin and McClain DT looked good

Bad

DUKe got called for holding and a false start , looked slow going down the field from the screen to goodson( duke looked bad)

DE brown and norwood did nothing 1 hurry between the 2( thank god for Hardy and Johnson)

dog how is jimmy a winner? he sucked. Cam looked incredible for his first game :o

I hope you are joking. A lot of his passes looked better then Cams, and Jimmy made smart decision after smart decision.

Edit: After that first interception, although Williams wasn't watching the ball.

WINNERS:

The QB's: All three of them had their moments. Jimmy's pick-6 was bad, yes, but he rebounded well. Cam showed good poise and a knack for big plays, and Anderson looked comfortable in the offense he knows well.

Greg Olsen: Everything we expected. Think he's going to have a Pro Bowl year this season, though hopefully won't actually be selected since it'd cost us a higher draft pick

Special Teams: Best special teams I've seen from the Panthers in YEARS. The days of mediocre returns and being burned on kick/punt returns is over!

Armanti Edwards: Bust? I think Armanti might have something to say about that. Looks like we have ourselves a punt returner. Was also solid as a receiver.

The defense: Missing so many key starters I expected the defense to struggle, but they played very well. I think we'll be better at DT than most people expect. Corvey Irvin has come out of practically nowhere to hold down a starting job and Fua & McClain both showed tons of promise. The corners held up pretty well, considering we were down to 3rd string guys.

Thomas Williams: Who? Love this guy's intensity on defense and special teams. Really think he has a good shot at making this team and contributing.

LOSERS:

Mike Goodson: Two fumbles? Really? I thought he was past this. Makes me very glad we re-signed Williams.

WR's Not Named Armanti Edwards: Pretty much across the board, but especially the backups. How many dropped passes? LaFell's out of bounds mistake. I'll be glad when Smitty is back on the field. We would be wise to make a move here.

Backup OL: Got Cam killed two plays in a row and got little push in the run game. Individually I'd feel safe with one or two of them in the starting lineup, but truth be told, I was underwhelmed by their performance as a unit.

The Giants:

What football game was you watching...Oh so, it's William's fault and not Jimmy's. If you look at the tape, it's clear to see that Jimmy threw the ball short. The Giant player ran to the ball comfortable. Go look at the video tape.

Amazing how many sit here and pick apart Cam and even blame him for some of the offense mistakes, Yet can't even let Jimmy own his own mistakes.

Yep, I see how this QB competition will be played out in the minds of some.

IMO, Let Cam and Jimmy own their own mistakes.
