Insanity workout

Yeah, I think that ends up being everyone's problem. Best advice I've heard on that situation is - in the morning eat like a king, at night, eat like a pauper. It takes discipline, but I also think it's just a matter of planning ahead of time.

Just for some perspective...

I had friends asking me what I did to get my abs back in my later years of high school. After high school, I used to take my shirt off when I played ball and had girls gawking and asking if they could touch my abs... How so far away that feels now.

I used to remember looking at myself before I went to sleep and thinking I'd never let myself go because it felt so great to know you're in shape, and for others to know as well. It gave me a great sense of confidence in every aspect of my life.

But, after I left juco and transferred into UNC, with two kids by that time, it just got easy to sit around and say "I'll do it tomorrow." Problem is, tomorrow, you'll say the same thing. And now I have to dig myself out of this hole to get back to that point, whereas if I had just kept it up in the first place, at least slightly, I wouldn't have gotten so out of shape to begin with.

Another problem with me is that I want instant results and when I workout, I usually push myself 100%. But, getting back in shape doesn't work like that. It's like baby steps. It sucks, lol.

I did it last night! I didn't eat a thing.

I took in 1200 calories, did plyo, hung out and went to bed. No junk food!!!

I actually missed my workout last night because my kids put me to sleep while I was trying to get them to sleep, lol. That being said, I'm doubling up and doing plyo and cardio recovery tonight, because cardio recovery was scheduled for today and it's relatively light and easy (I actually hate it).

Good job on resisting a late night feast! It definitely is hard. I've found that if I drink my whey protein before or after my workout (at night) and drink a cup of chocolate milk, it is pretty filling and keeps me from going back for something to eat later.

Just make sure you're watching your carbs at night. Some whey protein shakes are high in carbs and of course anything high in carbs is better consumed before lunch.

Diddy, glad to hear you're back on the program. I did the 60 day cycle twice through and I've only been doing it every other day since then...gotta get back on the wagon!

I wouldn't do protein before going to bed unless you workout at night. I usually eat fresh fruit before bed so I'm pretty hungry in the morning. I like a big breakfast to kick start my metabolism.

But usually I eat a small breakfast before doing Insanity. Afterwards I eat my big breakfast. I have a protein shake with a small lunch. Protein will help supress some hunger if that's what you need.

Are you all sure about your caloric intake? 1200 - 1900 seems really low. I'm usually around 3200 - 3500 a day.

Also if you're buying GNC or Shakeology you're paying way too much.

Yea i got one months supply of shakeology but this is probably my last month its just not worth the price tag. Im replacing it with Garden of life Raw meal which is about $39 retail and way better.

  • 1 month later...

This workout got me from 23% bodyfat down to 9% bodyfat. It works if you commit yourself to two months of clean eating and intense workouts.

Ha. This was me 30 pounds ago.

Just finished my first round of Insanity today. 63 days later and down about 30 pounds. Clothes fit better. Arms, abs, and legs are stronger than they've ever been. More energy. And starting the whole program over on Tuesday. It's the best and most effective workout routine I've ever done, by a mile.

Has anyone ever tried the next phase, Asylum? I'm thinking about trying that after my next 60 days of Insanity.

What up fellas? So, here is my update... I'm about to do day one of month two now. I already did my fit test and improved on everything. I then previewed the max interval circuit and it looked SUPER ROUGH. An hour long? And each exercise looked like it added an extra movement, or two, or three onto what we were already doing month 1.

But, I have a question for you guys since your results were so good. Did you see A LOT of results after month one in regards to the numbers (weight, body fat, etc.)? Because mine have been minimal. I started at 188 or so, and when I weighed myself first thing this morning I was at 182.5 and my body fat dropped from around 25 and some change to 24 and some change from when I started (according to my weight scale).

I am seeing some VERY noticeable results in my upperbody and somewhere along week 3, my avg bpm on my heart monitor dropped by about 10 bpm during workouts. My chest is bigger and clearly defined and I'm no longer ashamed to wear a plain white shirt, lol. My stomach is no longer gut-like, but there is still that layer of fluff on it, although now you can see the top 4 abs when I contract and definition on each side of my abs as well. But it boggles my mind that I've only gotten such minimal results in terms of the numbers... The visual results is what keeps me dedicated, otherwise I'd have quit.

So, did you see a lot of results after month one or did most of them come in month two? I've read that several places but wanted to ask you guys as trusted fellow huddlers, lol. My goal was to get down to below 15% body fat with this round and whatever weight that would bring me to, but that doesn't look likely which is discouraging.

Secondly, did you guys still find yourself having to press pause every now and then on the exercises in month two? They look vicious man!

Insanity alone won't get you down to 15% body fat.

Yes, definitely hit pause to catch your breath in month two. Its a lot better than standing and watching the background crew do all the work.

You already finished it, GGD?

How were your results?

Man, what sucks is that I went to get Madden 13 at the midnight release last night, so I tried to fit in the fit test and the max interval circuit before I went, but I only had time for the fit test... So, I went and got M13, came back, and ended up doing the workout at about 2am. I hadn't even opened Madden yet, I had to pick up some groceries on the way home and then get ready for it.

I'm telling you, I felt confident going in, but that workout beat me down. I have not EVER been this sore from any of the first month workouts. I've had a hard time getting up and down my stairs today. Quads, shoulders, chest, glutes, everything is a bit sore almost to where I felt like I couldn't do the workout tonight.

I actually dread these month 2 workouts after that experience, lol. But, I can't stop because I am seeing the results. Plus, I ate Chickfila tonight for my cheat meal, so I'm getting ready to down a protein shake and then start the workout at about 11:30-45ish.

BTW, what did you mean Insanity won't get me to 15% alone?
