Thomas Davis tears ACL

I fell sick for TD. One of my favorite Panthers.

That said, maybe there is a silver lining to this and the Beason injury. Maybe this will force the front office to consider things like value and injury risk when resigning players. I love Beason and TD and Williams but look around the league, all the top teams don't value RBs and LBs. The dropoff in production isn't enough to warrant us valuing each position like we do currently. Would anyone be surprised if Thomas Williams came in and tore it up? I for one am excited about seeing what Thomas Williams can do.

This is unreal.

And I know it's not as big a deal-from a team standpoint- as it seems.

LB is the deepest position on the team and we still have a formidable LB corps in JA, Gaither, and Connor, with two very good back ups behind them, and I know we protected ourselves financially...But this blows hard. For TD, and for us. Godfrey is the lone Team Captain on D now, too.

I could very well see us using a first rounder on a LB next year.

Hell No!!! Are yall serious??!!!! It seems like every position that takes a injury hit on this team the first thing somebody says is lets use 1st rd pick next year to replace that person. Beason, Anderson, and Connor are solid starters in this league LB is still the deepest position on the team we have more important needs. Now if Beason ends up goin down for his career then yeah it would make sense. You dont need 3 absolute studs at LB to win a championship, would be nice but that's overdoing it If you are upgrading a team.

Beason and Connor are stud MLB's, not OLB's. I'm not saying we need to spend a first rounder on an outside linebacker, but we sure as fug will need help at that position. Keeping Connor in the middle and moving Beason back outside is a horrible, horrible idea IMO.

Connor can't play OLB, and I know you aren't dumb enough to suggest we move Beason back out there.

    • I mean I think its a bit disingenuous to call basically anyone here a casual fan. I don't think the casual fan creates a profile then logs into it, in the offseason, to comments on mundane offseason topics.. I dont think anyone on here would be considered a casual fan. That said, I get your point. My POV is from the player. They sign this contract, move their family because of these contracts. When Clowney came him, we basically had a coming home party for him.  So yeah, I get why we did it and I know that ultimately the owner doesnt 'save' money, but I can feel for the human side of the player, which is why I want them to get all they can while they can.
    • My guess is the NBA will either send Flagg back “home” to the Northeast in Brooklyn or Washington, or San Antonio so that they can keep building around Wemby. If I was a betting man I would take the odds on the Spurs. This definitely feels like a #1 pick that they will rig.
    • In fairness, she is ensuring she is talked about.  People really aren’t going out there way to bring her up.  It’s some weird poo.  She would end up getting talked about given her actions if she was 40. Bill realizing some of these high end “companions” got a game of their own.  That’s what I don’t think Bill saw coming.
