For a secondary that was doubted....

Yeah our secondary struggles keeping the ball in front of them, and if I see one more DB try to throw an arm tackle or lead with their crown and miss instead of squaring up and driving their facemask into somebody's chest, I am gonna lose it. That being said, overall they looked so much better this past sunday than they have so far this season. Yeah they had a huge breakdown right before halftime but on the whole it was a decent performance.

Did I mention they SUCK!!!

They lost us the Arizona game on a 60 yard slant!!!!

They lost us Green Bay game looking in the wrong direction while the receiver ran a simple post a caught another 60 yard TD!!!

They almost lost us the Jags game when they gave up a 50 yard Hail Mary that fell 10 yards short of the end zone with no time left...then the WR trucked our DB!!!!

Close this thread down please...

So because the team was beat on three plays we should let everyone go? You do understand in all three games we were ahead and playing a little prevent that failed.

All I know is Rivera better let Mare try some field goal kicks greater than 40 yards for a change, since the game's probably going to come down to field goals to win it.

Their pass defense clearly isn't top 15, but it's not dead last. They've given up some big plays(the Jeff King broken coverage TD, the Jordy Nelson TD, Greg Jennings, etc) but for the most part they've been pretty solid. Mid 20's is where I'd rank it. There are much worse teams.

oh well, at least our star corner didn't get bent over by the super star we all know as Victor Cruz ;)

QBs have a 110.8 rating against us. considering we've played 2 of our games against the overrated kevin kolb and rookie yo gabba gabbert, thats pretty sad. btw...thats the worst in the league.

we've given up more 40+ yard passing plays than anyone (although it's just 4).

we're ranked 20th in giving up 20+ yards passing plays (though pats are 32nd, packers are 31st, bills are 23rd and saints are 21st).

considering that and the amount of points that have been given up because of big passing plays...a case really can be made for us having the worse secondary in the league, but our CBs look to be holding their own and it's not like we are getting abused all game and i looks like a lot of the top teams in the league right now have pretty weak pass defenses as well.

    • Because playoff hockey and regular season hockey aren’t the same thing.  It’s a combination of the game intensity being dialed up with loose officiating.
    • The last 8 weeks, Nix had 2,022 yards, 21 TDs, 6 INTs on 70% completions While Bryce's last 8 games he had 1,709 yards, 12 TDs (albeit adding 5 more rushing), 3 INTs on 61% completions. I'm not going to pretend I watched those Broncos games to know exactly how Nix actually looked, but in retrospect, his statistics were better.  Hell, in just his final 8 games, Nix had only 5 less TD passes than Bryce has in his 30 game (28 starts) career. And you said he had better WRs than Bryce did, but I'm not even sure that's even true either. Sutton and Thielen might be completely different types of WRs, but I'd say they are pretty equal on effectiveness if not even a slight edge to Thielen (63.6 YPG for Sutton to 61.5 for Thielen).  Then XL and Coker vs Marvin Mims and Devaughn Vale, again, at worst a push, if not lean in our favor there too. Why is it so hard for some Panthers fans to just objectively look at our team/Bryce and be honest with themselves. ? He was significantly improved the final two months of the season from his first season and a half.  But he was still a below average QB during that time, even if he had a few good throws and clutch moments.
