Whats up with all the fairweather fans?!??

Recommended Posts

I read this board daily and have so for the past 5-6 years. Rarely do I speak up or comment but its funny how many people on this board are freaking out like were not living up to the hype. I am personally extremely excited with our team and how we have been playing. Yes we have lost some very close games and thats frustrating, but this is the youngest team in the NFL playing arguably the hardest schedule. At least were not Philly, hyped to be the "dream team" and shoe in's for SB title, and 1-3.

There were no expectations, yet we have blown everyones mind and gained HUGE amounts of exposure for Cam and this teams performance. It is a new, exciting era!

1. Rookie QB

2. Rookie Coach

3. New Scheme

4. VERY SHORT OFFSEASON

All this yet we are 1-3 and had a chance to be 4-0. Be excited! Under the old regime every game would have been a blow out and horrible to watch.

This is fun, exciting, Carolina Panther football! The future is bright!

I agree. After every loss people are looking for a scapegoat. Do I think Naanee should be replaced? Yes. Was the field goal coming up a yard short a hard pill to swallow? Of course. But are they the only reasons Carolina lost yesterday? No. I'm still excited for next week because this team can beat any team they play this year.

those w/unreasonable expectations tend to be the first to jump ship

edit: don't like being 1-3, but i can swallow it b/c they are pretty clearly sacrificing short term equity in order to expedite/address newton's development. the fact that we can do this and still have a legitimate chance to win games is great.

I have yet to see a fairweather fan on this board. I have seen people who are man enough to admit that the excuses you listed aren't valid.

According to the posts after the last game, Naanee should be cut, Otah should be cut, McDermott should be fired, Cam should be suspended. The list goes on and on. It just shows that most of the posters on this forum are pretty clueless as to how to run a NFL team. There's nothing wrong with being upset, but at least don't make yourself look like you don't have any intelligence.

lol. Look at all these new people accusing others of being "fairweather" fans.

All these people you're branding "fairweather", 46&2, Happy Panther, myself, were here every day last season. All year. They were here every day this offseason. None of you clowns even got on board until the team got "exciting" enough for you. You needed a superstar to even need a reason to really want to talk Panthers football.

Fairweather is laughable. I'd say worse, but I don't want to be banned when Hot On The Huddle shows up on the forums tonight, so I'll leave it at that. Unbelievable how stupid that is.

yes it's mcdermott's fault that most of what little talent we had on defense went down w/injuries. too much emphasis is being placed on the flaws in the scheme; there is no scheme that does not have holes. we are playing 2nd and 3rd stringers out there

I'd like for you to direct me to these posts. Obviously everyone is in unison that Naanee isn't very good, but I'd like for you to show me the other ones. Please.

Don't worry OP, the dumbasses are usually the loudest, you'll soon begin to realize who are actual rational fans. Just because a few saps feel like bitching and moaning in every thread and preaching how their almighty manly fandom doesn't accept losing all while completely disregarding all enormous strides this team has made, doesn't mean that all fans are dimwitted dippoos.

    • If we were a solid winning organization most of us would have no problems with this selection. We would have had a capable starter in place to allow him to be eased into the rotation. If were told prior to the draft that he had been completely cleared health wise, we "probably" wouldn't have a ton of reservations about this selection. If we had picked this young man on Day 3 of the draft most of us would have no problems with this selection because we wouldn't have had to use draft capital to move up and get him. Unfortunately, none of the above were true 1)  We were a terrible team in 2023 and needed an immediate impact player. 2)  He was hurt near the the end of the 2023 NCAA season. We traded up to get him even though we knew he wasn't medically cleared to play in 2024. 3) When training camp started we were hearing stories that the knee wasn't ready. That alone should have raised some red flags. I personally would have red-shirted him in 2024 in order to have him ready for 2025. We had Chubba as our lead back and other guys to fill the #2 and #3 spots on the depth chart. There was no need to rush Brooks unto the field in 2024. Here's our draft history in the 2nd round between 2021 and 2024 2021 TMJ 2022 No draft choice. We picked Matt Corall in round 3 (#94) as our only Day 2 pick. 2023 Jonathan Mingo 2024 Jonathon Brooks. We have taken 4 skill players on Day 2 of the draft for the past 4 years who have contributed absolutely nothing to the offensive side of the football. 3 are no longer on the team. Two of them are no longer in the NFL. One  could possibly never start a game due to a knee injury. This type of poor drafting is why this team has been so bad for the entire decade.
    • Even limited as he was I still don't think they have replaced his production, and not just the sack stats. The games Clowney missed it was very obvious what his value still was. Risky move but whatever. They only had 32 sacks last year and if that drops then it's going to get ugly. I see the improvement in run stopping but not in pass protect in any way.
    • I have zero issues with this.
