Matt Berry loving on Newton. . .

Cam Newton, QB, Panthers (My rank: 2, Average of the other three rankers: 5): An obvious name, but I have him at two overall, saying I am recommending you start him over every big-time stud you might have whose name doesn't rhyme with Sharon Dodgers. Good matchup; the Falcons are allowing the ninth-most points per game to opposing quarterbacks, but come on. The stats on Cam are just ridiculous. He's averaging 322 passing yards per game. He's tied for third in the NFL with five rushing touchdowns. He's the only player in NFL history with at least five rushing touchdowns and five passing touchdowns in his first five games. ESPN Next Level tells us he is averaging better than 10 "air yards" per pass attempt this year, the only QB in the NFL to do so. He's averaging 24.4 fantasy points a game. He once, upon finding an injured man on the side of the road, removed his own kidney and transplanted it to the injured guy, saving the man's life, using only a dipstick and half a roll of duct tape. He is looking forward to his bye week so he can get in the lab and finish up the cure for cancer. It was him who found Osama. Seriously, ridiculous stats.

Also,

Every time Cam Newton smiles, an angel gets its wings.

lol, wow

We've never had a player getting this kind of insane love from the media.

Here is a thread similar to this. Here are some good ones from it...Credit to CarolinaCatBrigade

- On the 7th day God rested, then Cam Newton took over.

- At night Chuck Norris checks his closet for Cam Newton.

- Once Cam Newton threw a game winning TD pass, and caught it!

- Cam Newton went to the virgin islands, now they are just called the islands.

- Cam Newton is actually left handed, he just decides to give the other team a chance.

- If Cam Newton would have drove the Titanic, the iceberg would have sunk.

- Cam Newton was asked to play the lead role in the new mission impossible movie, but he passed because he couldn't understand the title.

    • I don't think anybody with a brain thought or thinks we are a legit super bowl contender this year.  I do LOVE the young core group that is forming. Part of the reason I defend Bryce Young is that if he is not good enough, we're going to waste a lot of this young talent we have anyway.  You don't go from 5-12 to super bowl contender in one offseason unless you get a major injury back or get an insane free agent haul. We currently can't hang with the best teams in the league.  We are also much closer than we were 365 days ago. Progress is good. There's still an outside shot at the playoffs, but I am really excited to see what Dan Morgan does with this offseason. Rico Dowdle a big decision. Jalen Coker, Brycen Tremaine, Cade Mays, Austin Corbett, Brady Christensen, Nick Scott and Christian Rozeboom are the guys we have to make decisions on. But this rebuild should be over next August. Or we have to do it again.  Improvements needed at pass rush and linebacker for sure.  Expecting us to win a super bowl this year is like expecting a kindergartener to do calculus. Is it possible? I guess so. but 99.9% shot it aint happening. We played like doo-doo against the bills, but that was definitely a penciled in loss from the day the schedule came out. Candidly though, if Bryce is ever going to be it, next year is the year we need to start being really good.
    • Yeah he put us in too big of a hole in which we had to pass more.  3rd and long with a slow roll out and he tried to tuck in and run with a fumble in the redzone.  3rd and long with an INT on our side of the field.  Then we get to like the 10ish yard line with less that 30 second and no timeouts (even Greg said we have to try to quick throws here), what does Dalton do?  Take a sack allowing us to barely rush a FG out (which missed due to being rushed).  You absolutely can't take a sack there.  Throw in getting sacked 6 additional times with 2 additional turnovers.  He also missed TMac on a TD where Shaq was trying to cover him and missed an open JHJ on a big gain.  Box Score watching won't tell the story yet people are going to try to do it anyway.   Now it's pretty clear he isn't the upgrade that some were claiming he is, but they can spin it differently I'm sure.
    • The combined record of teams we've beaten: 9-21. Some of y'all get fooled so easily.
